Yamahide Hana Katsuo Bonito Flakes, 1 Pound

GIGANTIC BAG OF LONG FULL FLAKES WOOHOOOO! This bag came packed in a large box, not crushed, airspace intact, long full wide flakes of bonito. My cats are crazy for this! I use it for a treat, (they eat it like we eat potato chips), but mostly I use it to make mini food "tacos" with their cat food when they are not feeling like eating, or being too picky to eat. My last bag was hand carried from Japan, and I did not think I would see this quality in America. Great deal. Just have to portion it out into smaller lidded jars to keep it fresh. I don't think they will care, however, as fish is fish to them, and even the "dust" of the bag, (of which I see none in this product), will be used as a food topper. No sodium, nothing but pure bonito protein. Thank you for such a great product!

Bonito for dashi/broth, and for use as topping to rice or noodles. Nice to share with pets who like a fishy treat or food topper. Huge bag, lasts forever (freshness), little goes a long way in dishes. Does not need to be refrigerated, and pretty sure this stuff never goes bad. I may break this bag down into smaller bags just for ease of use and to limit air exposure. Currently $27 for the bag, or a bit less with full subscribe and save ($23), and I think I was able to buy my bag on sale for $20. I dont rate on price, but any of the price points are reasonable. of course, less is better in these times :)

AMAZING. I make my dog and cats food homemade, healthy/single ingredient treats can be quite expensive. I work at a pet store, even with my 50% off discount, this $30 bag tops it. My animals love this tuna stuff. This bag is bigger than my head!! Having to vacuum seal it because it’s so much. This will last me like 6 months.

By far the best price for the amount that you get - only one out there that sells it in this size (and not a bunch of individual bags together in smaller sizes.) Always fresh, always packaged with bubble wrap or something around it to protect it. The smell might be strange to humans but cats can smell it a mile away - that's how fresh it is when it's delivered I use a "chip clip" to close it after giving some to my cats as a treat and it is always just as fresh when I go to the bag again a few days or more later to give them more. I have noticed a huge difference in the coats of my cats also - their fur and coats are much more shiny and silky since I have started giving these flakes to them as a treat every few days or so. The flakes are very large and the bag is almost completely full when you receive it (which can't be said for other brands out there of these flakes, much less any chips or otherwise that we humans buy at the store.) I'm very impressed with this company and the amount that they provide for the price. My cats are in love with it and know the bag as soon as I pull it out of the cabinet and immediately line up meowing begging for a treat of these flakes, they're obsessed and i have to hide it otherwise they would never leave me alone for them and would probably break into the bag themselves and help themselves (which did happen once when I didn't close the cabinet door shut tight enough and didn't realize it - they found a way to open the cabinet door up in the middle of the night and get it off the of the shelf and help themselves that night...I found quite the mess the next morning but, that's my fault for not closing the door enough.) Do your furry cat friends a favor and by these for them as a treat, and help their health and coats/fur as a result also while they love you for giving them these!

Absolutely excellent product. Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. I run a rescue and every cat in the place RACES to the main feeding station when they hear me grab the bag. It's a healthy sized bag - lasts quite awhile if treat is given a couple times a week. Once opened, I keep the bag wrapped in plastic in the fridge, just to be sure it remains fresh but that is not necessary. It's really a good product - a lot for the money - some others equally tasty (to cats) nonetheless are considerably more expensive.

This bonito is always really fresh and dare I say "plump" right out of the bag. For shaved tuna, the pieces are nicely sized and thick and while it still smells like fish, it is a really good smell. I keep this in my fridge and use it whenever I need a good umami flavoring in my dish. Dogs and cats LOVE bonito so don't be afraid to share some with your fur kids. It gives them a great boost of protein. I've been purchasing from this brand for years and have never had an issue with quality.
