The carbide seems to have been polished smooth - the quality is that good. The TiN coating will certainly help retain the edge at least twice as long and aid in better finishes. All around a tiny but great tool. It runs and cuts well, but it is made of steel ... presumably HSS. On the one hand, I wanted carbide (especyally for $30+) and am somewhat disappointed. On the other hand I subject it to lightish duty and can get by with HSS. But how soon will the lifetime difference rear its head?
