What is the shipping weight?** A: Trick question. They are basically the same as the Trinity Brand rack at Costco. However, the original question isn't correct. Ive bought dozens of wire racks and the metal racks as well from Costco, and Ive never paid more than $89.99 at my local store. They are more expensive on Costco's website. That could be where they saw it. They ones at Costco have 6 shelves as well. My greenhouse is full of them. Both have 8 4 foot poles for height. Also this shelving is actually 76", which is the same as Costco. The seller is listing the height with wheels. The 76" height is hidden at the bottom of the listing. One difference is the weight cap at Costco is a LOT more, and the one in this listing on Amazon is black, not chrome. I use the ones from Costco where I can, because they're a lot better buy, but when I need black shelves I come here, because Costco doesn't sell black shelving. Chrome will look horrible in my office. Everything is black and dark wood. The ones at Costco are Trinity brand, and they are absolutely amazing quality! I mean they are SERIOUSLY strong! VERY heavy duty. Most people don't need 800 pounds per shelf. After gas to drive to my local Costco, (and the inevitable angry drivers), the price is almost the same. Is the weight each shelf holds really 250lb or does the whole unit hold 250lb?** A: There are plastic pieces that fit into grooves on the supports. Once you have one of them in place on all four supports, you slide the shelves down to go over the supports. This keeps the plastic pieces in place and the shelf will not go further down than the plastic pieces. You can only do one shelf at a time. This sounds kind of Mickey Mouse, but it works great. The shelves are incredibly sturdy when assembled. I love these shelves and I keep coming back and buying more shelves for different rooms where I need some kind of storage. A tip I will give you is that theee are leveler feet at the bottom of the supports. I always make the ones on the front side of the shelves a little taller than the ones on the back, which helps prevent them from tipping forward. I have never had these shelves tip forward but I have had other shelves top forward and then fall over.
