Great Vacuum
I have been wanting a canister vac for years but never really had an excuse to buy a new one. I live in an apartment with the cheap very low pile carpet in the livingroom and bedrooms and linoleum throughout the rest of the rooms. Im going through a medical condition that has caused a lot of hair shedding, plus my son has a mop of hair on his head and I have 2 cats so I'm constantly sweeping it all up but in order to get most of it, I have to sweep and then use a swiffer. Even then it just ends up flying all over the place. So anyway, I decided to get a canister vac so I can easily switch from room to room. I read a lot of reviews that said the suction was great, and they weren't lying! I actually had to open the suction control on the handle so I could use vacuum my carpet easier. I found that the floor tool (without the brush) worked perfectly fine on my carpet and I didn't need to switch over just to vacuum my carpets. The cord was long enough to basically do all of the main rooms in my apartment without finding a new outlet and because my mom has had a canister vac for as long as I can remember, I'm used the hose coming from the top instead of in front, so I was able to move it around fairly easy. I think it might be a little heavy for some people but again, I'm used to using my mom's so I didn't find it terribly heavy. It's definitely not one you can easily clean with while holding (the stairs for example) The attachments hang on the handle which I know some people aren't crazy about, but I find that they don't really get in my way when I have them on the inside of the handle. I like the rubber bit on the handle, it makes it easier to hold. There are only 2 negatives that I have found. 1- both of thefloor tools are not easy to get off. It looks like they are supposed to click in but I'm never able to push them up far enough to click. They are also hard to remove, especially when trying to push them all the way on. For someone that would have to change floor tools frequently, it might get frustrating. The other issue I came across is there doesn't seem to be an easy way to clean the roller brush. Like I said earlier, we get a lot of built up hair and the first time I used the floor tool with the brush I found a lot of hair wrapped (like I knew there would) but didn't find a way to be able to remove the brush for easy cleaning, or even access to the entire brush. You just have a 1 inch opening to work with. I probably won't use that one very often anyway, but I know easy access is a must for some people. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and hope to have this vacuum for a long time

Powerful canister vacuum!
Out of all the name brand vacuums Iโve had over the years, this has superseded them all. I have never heard of this brand but Iam so happy I tried this vacuum. Itโs light weight , has great levels of suction power and has the extra extension wand needed along with the appropriate tools for cleaning the entire house. I prefer the bag type and hepa filter for the dust free containment and easy cleaning. I believe this canister is more durable and easy to move around the house and will last longer than any of the name brands that I owned in the past! A great price and buy!

Hepa filter pops off when I turn it on! Cheaply made in China!
I wanted to love this vacuum cleaner for price and features but the hepa filter cover latch is faulty and the whole thing flies off every time I vacuum! Iโve tried packing tap, painters tapeโฆthere is nothing on the bottom of the filter cover to latch onto! It stayed on half of the time the first month or so but now it comes off every time. Wish I had returned it within the first 30 days! It is a worthless piece of junk. In addition to this issue, its brush attachment is already worn out with minimal use less than a year in. It is also very hard to clean out the carpet brush bar because there is no way to open it! Cheaply made in China. Buyers beware!

Rust and flimsy parts on new vacuum - UPDATED
UPDATE TO THIS REVIEW: This is overdue but I wanted to provide an update on my previous issues with this vacuum and how they were handled. Within a few days, company representatives did contact me and shipped me a replacement wand and filter cover right away. The reps were very helpful and I appreciated it. I replaced the parts and so far so good. They still could not/would not provide me with a serial number for the unit so that I could register it on the Prolux site, which I still find strange. Maybe someone reading this review can give me some insight into why they can't provide that. I wanted the serial number because I purchased the Square Trade Protection Plan through Amazon when I bought this vacuum, which only goes into effect when the original warranty expires. I can't register for the original warranty so not sure how I would explain this to Square Trade if anything happens to the vacuum. The Prolux rep assured me that if I have any problems to just contact them. Not sure if the Protection Plan I purchased was just a waste of money, in that case. So ok...that's as far as I got with that. BUT I will say that the company reps were proactive and eager to help, so I was satisfied with that aspect in the end. It's still a good vacuum for the price, has really great suction, and is lightweight. Some people may not like the idea of dragging a canister around, but the canister is fairly light and has a handle. Also the long wand makes it much easier to vacuum under furniture without moving it. Heavy upright vacuums just can't do the same job, and if you have any kind of back problem, pushing around an upright vacuum is not ideal. I'm still pleased with this vacuum overall and glad the problems could be resolved.. So...that's the update. Hope this helps!--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I've had this vacuum since mid-August. It's now not quite mid-October. I've been using it regularly. The vacuum itself works well...suction is very good. Lightweight, quiet. Easy to use. However the inside of the metal vacuum wand that meets the black hard plastic part near the top of the wand is rusted inside, and that started weeks ago. The vacuum has had no contact with water and is kept in a perfectly dry closet. I'm puzzled as to why it would be rusted for any reason, especially so soon after purchase. In addition, in trying to remove the filter cover off the back yesterday -- gently! -- a small piece of plastic broke off of it and is now rattling around inside the unit. I'm fairly certain I don't have superhuman strength so I was pretty surprised something actually broke off during a routine cover removal. The plastic filter cover now is not firmly attached. I also tried to register the vacuum so it's under warranty, but I don't see a serial number visible anywhere, so I couldn't even do that. I emailed the company yesterday because they do not provide a customer service number on their website. Have not yet heard back from them, which I think is poor customer service. If a company only allows customers to send web messages regarding problems, at the very least they should return customer emails immediately. Does anyone have a customer service phone number for Prolux? I have to say I started out very enthusiastic about this vacuum but I'm disappointed that the parts should already be rusting, and so flimsy. I've never written an Amazon review before but I wanted to do so for this. I have to say I'm really annoyed. I'll update this review if they contact me.

SUPER LITTLE SUCKER!
I needed a lightweight vac with great suction. I purchased an upright that cost twice as much as the Prolux and sent it back after two minutes because it was cheap and difficult to use. Read tons of reviews on Amazon and chose this little beauty. When it first arrived, I thought, Oh, no, it's just like my little Bissell. Very very similar design except this one is white and a bit smaller. The Bissell is black. I don't know which company designed the product, but it would seem that Bissell tried to copy this very effective little vac because although the features are very similar, the performance is not the same. I used to run the Bissell over and over the same spots before I finally would give up and just pick up the dirt and put it in the trash. The Prolux sucked the heck out of my floors, carpets, walls and most important of all, the corners where those pesky spiders live. (Got bit by a brown recluse two weeks ago. Fortunately, my neighbor gave me some bentonite clay which I mixed with apple cider vinegar and made a paste that I applied every 6 hours for 3 days - it completely healed and it was a nasty looking wound. Bentonite clay is good stuff to keep on hand for any bites.)Anyway, back to this vac. I could actually feel it sucking the hardwood floors. I like the dial where you can leave it on the quiet minimum setting which is still a lot of suction. The higher suction is serious. Usually, I hate vacuuming because I don't like the noise, but this vac cleans so well I don't mind the little whistling it makes when it's on the max setting. The only negative is the accessory tools have a little holder but there's no place to really attach it where they don't fall off. The performance makes up for that inconvenience. I just stuck the crevice device in my pocket and carried it with me.Another plus is the bag situation. When you close the door, the hose fits directly into the bag. You can't make a mistake and get it wrong. And the filters are easy to clean or change. The vac came with 5 extra bags so I am set for a while. This little vac is well worth the money, I think. I'll have to see how it does over the long term, but I have high expectations. The Bissell is going to the thrift store as a donation.

Wish It Was Better
Ordered canister vac (my preferred), my Electrolux had quit on me and they don't seem to make them any more? This Prolux had decent reviews, some good some bad. The actual unit appeared quite well made, sturdy, a bit heavy but overall looked adequate HOWEVER, the hose, controller handle, and included accessory attachments were cheap plastic, the "power head" (the part that goes on the floor itself) was very light, flimsy cheap plastic, very wimpy brushes, not enough bristles. I had no confidence in that it would fail, and fail quickly. As mentioned the machine had strong suction, so much though that it made it difficult to pull it back and forth across the carpet (low pile carpet at that) with reducing the suction which made me think am I actually picking dirt like this? Would've been nice if that products were made of better quality to match the actual vacuum.

Powerful suction!
I have two indoor dogs, one of them, a husky, sheds like crazy. I looked for days for a vacuum that I can use on hardwood floors. I have no carpet and didn't want a vacuum with a roller, since that only tangles the dog hair in the roller. The Tritan Prolux is AMAZING!! I've had it for six month and its absolutely powerful enough to pick up EVERYTHING without any issues whatsoever! A must buy if you have pets!

Only 1 thing I don't absolutely love about this vacuum
This is by far the best vacuum I've ever owned. it's tough and good looking (I got white), has great power, nice big wheels that don't scratch my floors, it's quiet and allows me to customize the intensity on both the hose and on the canister. the switch on the wide head is easy to use- even with bare feet while the vacuum is running, the hose connection is secure and its location on the top of the canister instead of being on the end is genius because it never, ever kinks and it's great for reaching up. the squat design prevents it from flipping over and in the past I've experienced this frustration constantly. the perfect amount of articulation is a pleasure and doesn't feel like you're trying to steer an ikea shopping cart. the cord retracting works really well and both the retract and the power buttons are big enough and conveniently placed on the unit so I can operate them with a tap of the toe. the bag is easy to change and the filter is easy to clean, even comes with a helpful little tool. the handle is big and comfortable and there's even a hook to hold the hose and wand vertically instead of having to lay them down on the floor to move a chair or something. hopefully I've remembered all the finer points of this vacuum because there are many and I really love it. the only thing I don't completely adore (and unfortunately I don't have a solution or suggestion to fix it) is improved attachment storage. the attachments themselves are in keeping with the wonderfulness of the vacuum but it seems they're always being knocked off (if you can't tell by now, I'm kinda intense about my vacuuming). my solution for now has been to keep them in a drawer centrally located in the house. my next thought is some sort of vacuum accessory toolbelt. I may do that anyway since I think my wife will find it irresistible :-) seriously though, it's a great vacuum.
