Another solid expansion for Ascension.
For those unfamiliar with Ascension at all, the game is a fantastically fun deck-building game that moves quickly and is easy to learn. As this is a review for a later version of the game, if you would like to read more about how the basic game plays I would recommend checking out some of the reviews for the original release, Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer.I already own both Ascension Chronicle Of The Godslayer and Ascension: Return Of The Fallen Expansion , so while I realize this can be played by itself, I have only played with the other cards mixed in. However, the additions this expansion makes are pretty cool. There are two main changes: Events and Trophy Monsters. Events are a card type that get moved to a separate place on the game board when they are flipped up in the central row, and remain there until a new event shows up. There are five events total, one for each faction + one for the monsters. They always add a global effect, an ability which each player can use in a turn, and some other cards get a bonus depending on which event is out. The downside to these is that since I have both previous Ascension games mixed in, 5 events in a ~250 card deck means they don't come up very often. If you are playing this game as a standalone I think you'll see them be a bit more game-altering. The second major change to the game is Trophies. These are an ability on monster cards that allow you to take the monster after you defeat, and use the trophy ability whenever you want, but only once. For example, if a trophy event on a monster is "draw a card", you get that monster card once you defeat it and you can draw a card with it right away or save it for another turn. Overall, a very nice addition. There is also a new "Always available" monster called the Fanatic which has a trophy effect(you can only have one of them at a time, though). One other new feature they made is the option of a solitaire game where you play against the strongest monster included in the set, Nemesis. I don't really think I'd enjoy playing the game solo though so I am not super familiar with the rules for the solitaire version.

I love the cards included in this set
I love the cards included in this set. I've only tried a couple Ascension expansions so I won't try and claim it's the best one. But I give it a 4 star rating because the "events" are really too slow to come out, especially with 2 players, especially mixing this deck with other sets. The fix we've figured out so far is to bring out one event right away; and if any effect banishes an event, search the deck for a new one.I see some people commenting negatively on the packaging... I had no issue like that.

Great game. This expansion is OK
Ascension is one of my my favorite games. I own three of the large expansions. Though this one is considered by many to be the best, it's actually my least favorite. There are lots and lots of cards that allow you to trash stuff. As a result using this expansion you end up with a powerful but small deck. May be some people's preference, but I like it less this way.My personal recommendation is to get the original. If you have played that a ton and want to branch out, then this is a fine option.

Fun game!
This is a fun expansion to the game ascension. My only complaint, and this is probably from the way the game was packaged, is that the rule book came a little bent up. Other than the packaging, this is a fun game and it adds a lot to the original.

Our favorite quick game - lots of replay potential
Ascension is a fast paced deck - building game. I like the flavor and the card selection of this set better than the base game Chronicle of the Godslayer. This is a standalone product and once you have played it a couple of times, it is the easiest game I own in terms of setup and teardown, and my wife and I often play it in 20 minutes so it is the ideal "unwinding" game at the end of a hard day of work.

Love the game, but it doesn't pack up nicely like the other Ascensions.
I love the game. Absolutely love it. My problem is with the packaging. In the other Ascension games the cards fit into the box perfectly. There's nice plastic mold that gives a separate space for the center deck cards, a separate space for the mystics and heavy infantry and a nice space that's perfect to put each players beginning 10 card deck. However even though the plastic molding looks exactly like other Ascension games the players beginning deck DO NOT fit in the molding. Making the available space just awkward.

Loooooveeeeeeeeeeeeeedddd it <3
I would have to say that this was without a doubt one of the most pristine purchases that I have made over the previous decade. Please, keep this product in stock because I will, I guarantee that I will continue to buy even more of these regardless of how many I have purchases in the past. As a matter of fact, I have another 3 of these in my cart waiting to be bought. I will be buying this again.

Very fun and has two expansions available
My wife, daughter and I enjoy playing this version at least twice a month. It also has two expansions that can be added. Highly recommend.
