The bin is great, but the Customer Service is IMPECCABLE!
This review is for the customer service I received DIRECTLY from QualiaZero, not just a review of the bin itself... As others have mentioned, I originally got this trash bin with a massive dent. I reached out to QualiaZero, just to let them know they should probably use another carrier, because the delivery company they had used is rather notorious around here for not being "considerate" with packages. I was basically just giving them an fyi, right? Oh boi, I did not realize the level of dedication the staff at QualiaZero have for their customer base! So, first off, I got a pretty fast reply, considering the differences in time zones. Lots of respect and thanking me for not blaming "them" for the problem and not trying to attack them for the failures of the delivery company. But I was not ready for the level of apology that even though it wasn't on "them" for the dents, they were insistent on sending me a replacement with their sincerest of apologies! Ok, sure. I'll take another bin. I'll figure out something to do with it, right? Well, the second one arrived massively dented as well. Hmmm. Reply back to the contact over at QZ, and with the laughter one must have to survive in a life riddled by Murphy's Law, I informed them the 2nd one arrived dented by a different delivery company, so this might be more systemic than first thought, but hey, I appreciate the thought. did a kthxbye and a reassurance this wasn't me fishing for a free pristine bin, before thinking the matter was done. Yeah, it didn't stop there. A week went by and I thought the conversation was over, but then I got a new email out of the blue. It explained how they had CHANGED their packaging procedure, and were asking if they could send me ONE MORE BIN, to see if their rethinking of packaging would actually deliver the product safely. part of the email, because I can't make this kind of thing up. just, wow. : " Your feedback is invaluableโit has already driven immediate improvements. Weโve reinforced our packaging with extra cushioning and strict quality checks at our warehouse to prevent future dents or damage. As a token of our apology and appreciation for your support, weโve carefully prepared a new trash can and will ship it to you. Weโve personally inspected it to ensure it arrives in perfect shape. We truly hope youโll give us a chance to make things right." After a couple of quick confirmations that I was being asked to be a qa guinea pig, and that this wasn't a "who can be more humble" contest, I informed the contact that Private Guinea Pig was reporting for duty, so bring it on, as long as they didn't mind that I would be donating one of the previous bins, because I literally don't have the space for 3 large bins. XD They literally DID send another bin, and yes, based on my pics and comments, they had completely CHANGED their packaging method. They changed out the styrofoam for the new moulded cardboard cap/base combo, that is so snug that it keeps the side of the box "taught", preventing the sides from failing from impacts. As a result, the third bin arrived unscathed, even though the box outer did show signs of impact and scuffs. Now THAT is customer service! And they kept thanking me, for not being rude to them throughout this process. Mind = Blown. Now, for deets about the bins: High quality materials. Height is good for my back so I'm not bending awkwardly over when scraping food waste into the bin. Lid keeps our mischievous cat out of the trash, which was the original goal of upgrading our kitchen trash bin. Foot pedal is the extra hand you don't realize you need when a lid is involved. XD Soft close keeps my nerves from involuntarily cringing from loud crashing noises. Inner bin is easy to remove and clean. I also spritz the inside with lysol and have a charcoal filter attached to the lid, to keep odors down. (Cat litter smell would kill us otherwise.) Minimalist design that blends with our metal finishes for appliances in the kitchen. Easy to clean exterior. I tend to just use a spritz of kitchen counter cleaner and a rag, and any splatter spots or paw prints easily wipe off. Lid also can be just opened to full, without need of the pedal, which makes emptying the bin all that more simple. No signs whatsoever of these bins "breaking" any time soon - not from rust nor mechanical failure. Except for the dents on 2 of them, impossible to discern these from floor models. Functionally, they just "work". The design is so clean and simple, you don't realize just how ingenious it is. Pics below are of the 3rd shipped bin, so people can see what should come on arrival, not how it was previously being shipped. Well, minus the garbage bag, lol. That was me going back and grabbing an additional pic of the inner liner bin.

Truly excellent
We often need to deal with various packages, and this product can handle them easily. The height is moderate, and the footrest design allows me to operate with both hands free when holding the sponge. The lid lowers smoothly without any strange sounds and there is no odor leakage. I especially like that it fits perfectly with standard high-capacity bags without wrinkling; the hidden liner keeps all items safe and stable. The matte steel material won't leave small fingerprints even when there are children around. The overall feeling is modern and upscale, truly keeping the kitchen fresh. This is the most worthwhile product to purchase this year.

Great trashcan. Grandparents loved it!
My dear sweet grandparents like things the way they like them and donโt enjoy change (which honestly sounds like all of us right?). Theyโve had a step to open trashcan for decades now and it no longer works how it is supposed to. This is cause for concern with my grandmother who always struggles to get it open or closed. My grandpa doesnโt want anything different because he likes this specific style and the ones heโs seen donโt look good or are wayyyyyyy too pricey. This is the part where the new trash can comes in. This trashcan looked exactly like the one they have been holding onto, and I got the go ahead from my grandpa to purchase it for them with the understanding that if it arrived and it wasnโt what he wanted, I would return it. Thankfully there was no need. He was ecstatic about this garbage can. It looks nice, holds plenty of garbage, is easy to operate smoothly, and doesnโt smell. He was so pleased with this new garbage can and now grandma does not struggle with it. I know itโs just a trashcan, but it was worth every penny for the peace of mind that my grandparents no longer have to struggle with their old one and donโt have to worry about a smell because the lid on this one actually works. Itโs the little things that make a difference. It improved their quality of life a little more and Iโm thankful to have this option available.

Solid, good buy
This was to replace our broken hands-free motion-sensor can. What a pain to keep changing out batteries bc they died so frequently. When it finally just seemed to stop working, I opted for a foot operated opening can. We love it! It did take a week or so to get used to a different motion to open the can and to not "stomp" on it. You don't need to do much to get it to open. Too much foot pressure equaled slamming up into the edge of our counter. Now, all of our household is acclimated, and we don't give it a second thought. I just love the slow close lid (no banging shut) AND the ease with which it can be fully opened in position. This is so helpful when I'm prepping a meal or juicing so I don't have to keep opening it. It just sits in the open position. When ready to close, a little tap is all that's needed. I've found this can stays much cleaner than our motion can did. I don't have to stand over it with a messy item. For whatever the reason, I'm needing to clean this van far less often. Lastly, it seems to hold trash odor in well. We left the boys (17 & 22) at home for 2 days. When we returned, all seemed well. When we opened the trash can, a stench arose! Our home did not smell bad at all upon arriving home. The stench had been kept inside the can. Apparently, the boys did not take the trash out as they had been instructed to do. The food I had thrown into it just b4 leaving town had simply festered for 2 days while they ate frozen meals and take out. Lol

Long lasting
Iโve had this trash can for 3 years now and it works great. Easy to clean, good quality and does the job. The foot pedal started coming off recently but we are able to reattach it easily so far. With heavy use and no real maintenance it is beginning to show signs of wear on the inside of the lid. Overall a great product and once it is ready to retire Iโll buy another.

Good looking, sturdy and functional; best buy for your money.
Super speedy delivery, well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. The lid has a nice controlled, soft close. A bit big for my kitchen, but I'd rather have it too big than too small. Fits a 13 gallon trash bag perfectly. After looking online for the perfect kitchen trash can, this was the best buy for the money and it blends well with my stainless appliances. A big win.

Not super durable. Okay quality.
The soft close mechanism broke within a year or so. The pedal broke after two years. It's an Okay quality.
