A nice upgrade that is easy to install
This was a first time use of installing a floor switch but it won't be the last. Important: Carefully read the included instructions. You will only cut one of the two strands of wiring. I used a vintage style 18 gauge copper wiring and I would suggest that you use at least an 18 gauge to 14 gauge copper wire as the connections inside the switch are where you will expose about a quarter of an inch of the copper (twisted tight) and insert it into the unit where it will lock into place. Once the wiring was connected, the rest of the assembly was quite easy and only required a Phillips Head screwdriver. Flawless operation and it sets flat on the floor.

Works exactly as it should
I bought this to replace a broken switch on a floor lamp, and it worked perfectly. It feels sturdy, clicks nicely, and functions exactly as it's supposed to. Great, simple replacement part.

Sturdy and effective
Parts arrive unassembled in a plastic case. Instructions easy to follow, but missing key steps in wire preparation. A section of outer insulation on the wire-cord (around 2 inches long) must be carefully removed to expose conductor wires. The live wire (black or brown) is then cut at its midpoint, and ends stripped of insulation (around 1/4 inch). Stranded wire should be twisted and tinned with solder. Then assembly is simple, using pliers to press the wires into the switch, and a screwdriver to secure the housing. The switch is a nice size, sturdy, and works well.

Nice upgrade
This switch is much better than the one it replaced. The internal connectors made replacement much easier and you only need a light touch to turn it on or off.

You have to put it together
Returning this. It comes in a box of parts that you have to put together yourself. It was not expecting that. Did not look easy and I don’t have the patience for it.

Very difficult to install for stranded wire (conductor) / Easy installation for solid wire
Cons: If your power cord is a stranded wire (ie. a bunch of thin copper wires bound together), you will have a very difficult time pushing the wire through the little hole on the little on/off toggle (inside the foot switch). Even when twisted, the stranded wire is simply not firm enough to be pushed through the securing metal clip inside the on/off toggle. In my installation, through the wire-release hole on the side, I have to use a tiny flathead screw driver to push open the metal clip inside the on/off toggle while pushing the stranded wire through its hole. Once the stranded wire is pushed through (and you can actually see it protruding out of the other side of the metal clip as you look through the top of the semi-transparent plastic on/off toggle), I pull out the tiny screw driver to release the metal clip which then secures the wire. This is a difficult task; I don't recommend this foot switch if your power cord has stranded wiring. If you could somehow force your stranded wire through the hole of the on/off toggle, make absolutely sure that the stranded wire goes all the way through the metal clip to ensure a secure connection. As mentioned earlier, you can actually see the tip of the wire on the other side of the metal clip by looking through the top of the semi-transparent on/off toggle. You will risk sparking, heat built up, and possible fire if the connection is not secure. Remember that this is a foot switch and that you will be kicking and applying a lot of pressure on it. The connection must be secure. With that said, if your power cord has solid conductor wire, it's very easy to push the solid wire through the hole to get a secure connection. Poor documentation with improper English is another con. Pros: The overall foot switch is well-built. The button has a solid "click" sound and feel. Inexpensive. Additional note: Remember to cut and route the hot wire through the on/off toggle. The hot wire is normally black. Lamp power cord does not have the white/black color coding but you should see two leads/wires. Use your finger to feel for and identify the smooth wire and the ribbed wire. The smooth wire is the hot wire.

Great replacement
Just what I needed. The previous one was getting temperamental to switch on/off. This was a good price and simple enough to fit. Would recommend.

Floor lamp foot switch replacement
Great Product. The foot switch on my floor lamp stopped working so I ordered a replacement. Recieved three floor lamp switches and hardware, so have extra incase any of my other lamps stop working. Very easy to replace, fair price and now my lamp works like it should.

Good switch but fiddly to fit.
Useful floor switch but the wiring was a little fiddly as the cable has to be kept as one piece with the wires being bared without cutting the cable all the way through.
