Very solid video output device
Using this with Pro Tools and Video Sync 5. Great way to output 1080p signal to my TV. At first I had a bit of problem getting my computer to recognize it (Mac OS Sonoma) but then I found that BlackMagic has a terminal script which “restarts” the device to wake it up. I put this script in my Login Items so it launches whenever I reboot, and now it works great.

Required for Apple silicon
As you can see, I had the original Mini Monitor but after upgrading my computer to an Apple silicon (M1 Max) and the perfect storm of Blackmagic updating everything with DaVinci Resolve 18, I was perplexed as to why the original video converter stopped working. The software could see it even with the cable converters but still only sent a black screen to my monitor. Upon rereading the support forums and the release notes several times, I found that the original was only supported on Intel CPU Macs!Fortunately, I found the newer Monitor 3G here on Amazon for the same price as my favorite NYC A/V retailer who was closed for a holiday. I needed it quick for a client edit session and was delivered the next day! It integrates perfectly with no fuss or further thought at least on a Mac.As a reminder, the Monitor 3G can only send up to 1080 HD to your monitor but you can change the output scaling in Davinci Resolve to see 4K and above on your screen with this device for a fraction of the next step up device for DaVinci. As of this writing, I do not believe that this will work with non Blackmagic programs.

You will need BM Desktop Software installed and it's tricky
Solved my issue of running a third full-screen monitor (Sony broadcast SDI in) from my MacMiniProM2 for Blackmagic Davinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro. Takes the signal from Thunderbolt 3 out, and turns it into your choice of SDI or HDMI to feed the monitor of your choice. Had to call Tech support, though, and download BMD's desktop video suite of aps, and point to the device correctly in each non linear editor to make it work. In my case, the BMD ap had defaulted to 25fps instead of 29.97, causing tearing in the picture until I figured that out. But, works like a charm; just a little convoluted to set up initially.

Great solution
This is an awesome little product from Blackmagic Design, and helped me set up a low budget way to output video for color correction in Davinci Resolve.
