BLACKHAWK! Lightweight Balaclava with NOMEX Black AD

I needed a fire retardant balaclava for work.The material is definitely lightweight.I do not have any opportunity to test how well it keeps your face warm in cold weather because i work in a tropical climate.But the cloth material is extremely irritating to the skin. I imagine it would be just as itchy in cold climate as it is in my tropical climate.I think XGO makes a balaclava that is WAY MORE COMFORTABLE to the skin.I did not get to test the fire retardant feature of the XGO or blackhawk balaclavas because i (fortunately) have never experienced a flash-fire to my face before.

It’s very thin. I was going to use it for welding to protect my neck and face from the reflective rays when I’m inside vessels but it’a too thin, too scratchy and too tight. And I’m a female with short hair so I don’t have a big head as I assume most buyers of this product would be men . I raced cars in my younger days and the one I used back then was soft and much thicker. I can’t imagine this would pass inspection for any racing organization. It’s not worth the money in my opinion. It’s so thin, if you were in an actual fire (fuel flare up) I highly doubt this would give you any protection.

This is a great lightweight balaclava. At the worst the temps in my area hit 30 degrees and most of the winter 40’s-50’s are more common. For my climate this is perfect.

Very itchy at the beginning of wearing. After awhile you get used to it. Very lightweight and comfortable.
