I tried a well-known competitor's squirrel trap that my neighbor had, however it was not long enough. It would trip, but trap door would not lock closed because a squirrel body would prevent full closure and then he could just back out. This Homestead trap is high quality with a stable trigger allowing me to catch 3 squirrels over a two week period. It also has a heavy duty closure lock to ensure it stays closed. I watched the 3rd squirrel enter it and trip the door, however he did not realize he was trapped until through eating several minutes later. For bait I used nuts embedded in peanut butter spread on 2 pieces of carboard; a small one outside the trap (appetizer) and the large (meal) one in front of the trap pressure plate.

This is a trap for small animals - no bigger than a rabbit.

A squirrel gnawed a hole in the plastic top of my Havahart trap. The all metal design of this trap is much better. Two minor problems with this trap are setting it and releasing the animal after capture. First, the linkage between the trigger and door is a tiny bit too short making it difficult to set the trap. Second, opening the door is awkward when releasing the animal. Other than these two minor issues it works well. No assembly required. Solidly built. Makes deporting those backyard pests easy.

It worked great! We have virtually eradicated our bunny problem by safely capturing them to move them to a more friendly bunny location within 2 weeks.

Good quality, but they claim that it will hold a backyard rabbit, cottontail. Not true rabbits went around it and around it, but would not go in the hole. It needs to be at least 2 inches wider and taller. Otherwise , I would have kept it. It's very sturdy, too bad. These manufacturers just don't get it.

These are great. We'll made. Have use this trap for some time now. Still holding up like new. Highly recommend.

Trap assembled easily. Feels sturdy. Setting it was easy. The hook catch to set it was great the first week. The second week, we could not get it to set. Kept slipping off. Had to roughen up the metal a bit to allow the catch to stay set. For the money, it should have a catch that works better when setting. Have caught and released two squirrels so far. Hopefully, it will last longer than two weeks.
