Can the immersion blender be stored upright on the chop/mix cup that’s included?

Yes, it can be stored that way. I don't store mine that way, but I tried it and it is very stable, even with the cord rolled up

Has anyone used this to make hummus?

Yes, it worked well. I used the mashed potatoes attachment.

The chopper blade seems to almost puree a lot of things I use it with (i.e., bell peppers) rather than truly chop. Anyone else?

Bell peppers don't do well in a chopper because of their water content. Like cucumbers.

How this compare to braun multiquick 5 immersion hand blender or cuisinart immersion hand blender?

I can only compare to the Cuisinart battery operated hand blender and by far the Braun is far superior. For the reson I wanted a hand blender, ( for making Hollondaise sauce, which requires a long blend time) the cuisinart doesn’t cut it as the battery just doesn’t last long enough. I was lucky if I could it to hold a charge at fast speed for anything over a minute or two, plus with the battery of cuisinart there are NO options to purchase a second battery and no way to open the compatment to repkace failed battery. I live the braun it is very heavy duty and performs great!
