Good monitor for the space in my roll top desk.
I love this more for how it fit than what is does, and if fit the space in my roll top desk perfectly. Very capable full HDMI monitor at a fair price. I'm very happy with it.

SHARP AND CLEAR IMAGE AND REASONABLE PRICE
I have another larger 4K monitor but I honestly think this one has an image that's just as sharp. It wasn't expensive and it works perfectly so I'm very glad I bought it. Recommended!

Good value, not perfect
[This is a review of the VP229Q, the 75Hz IPS model. The same Amazon listing also includes a different model which has a TN panel.] Works well, no dead pixels. I like the physical design a lot, although the stand is a little wobbly so I stacked some decks of cards up under the corner to keep it from moving. Built-in speakers are pretty bad quality but I wasn't planning to use them anyway. If you're just trying to watch a youtube video or something they'd be fine. The backlight is a little uneven (slightly darker at the top middle) but it's not a big deal. You can kind of see it in the picture I took, but keep in mind that the middle doesn't really look that much brighter in real life. On black backgrounds you can see some "IPS glow" where the corners look lighter than they should. And if you're sitting close to the monitor and look at the edges there's a "shadow" effect because of the gap between the backlight and the panel. From what I've read online these are both common even on more expensive IPS monitors though, and neither is very noticeable in day-to-day use. 75Hz is noticeably smoother than 60, and G-SYNC seems to work as advertised. There's a cool feature built into the monitor where you can show a chart of the FPS to make sure it's working correctly. I don't really have the equipment/knowledge to measure color accuracy and pixel response times, but both seem pretty good. I found the various display modes a little confusing, since some settings (saturation, color temperature, etc.) are only available on certain modes. There's an "sRGB" option, which you'd think would be the most accurate, but if you pick that you can't adjust the brightness and as far as I know it's not factory calibrated or anything anyway. Overall I'm pretty happy with it, but not blown away. For the price though it's hard to complain.

Very good for the price
I got 2. they both are nearly flawless with the back-lighting-only a small light shadow on the left center of both screens. . colors are good and strong, contrast is sharp, text is pretty good too. For 155bucks they are awesome, i may have gotten a little too big of a screen for me but size is perfect for a dorm to use as your tv with a computer or firestick. The speakers are sadly lacking however. Do not expect too much out of them. If you dont have room for desktop or other speakers and plan on using it for entertainment, i suggest a different monitor.

When A Storm Causes Trouble, Look To Them!
I love me every square inch of this monitor. After like seven years, my original monitor of this brand lost an hdmi port to a storm. I snag me this one and it’s been aces. Great brand, durable product.

Needed a bench monitor
DO NOT BUY ASUS PRODUCTS Original review after 4 days - I am using this on a test bench for testing repaired desktop PCs. It is fitted on an under shelf rotating VESA Mount and it works well. No idea if it is any good for gaming or brightness in sunshine etc but it displays Windows and is getting daily use, so I like it. Update- Monitored failed after only 4 months of use. Took multiple phone calls and unbelievable amount of paperwork to get RMA. Got it back repaired after 5 weeks. I only use it once or twice a month yet after only another 7 months it is totally dead. I am done with ASUS products. My other 4 monitors are Samsung and work great 2 of them for over 4 years. The ASUS VP229Q 21.5” Monitor is absolutely garbage, completely unreliable and I would not recommend it to anyone.

the best
Probably the best for everyday needs ( I don't know what "know how" they used ),but ASUS monitors always outperformed -my old one 20" still display more vibrant colors than most newest models !

Great monitor
great monitor. I use it for office work and it has a good picture quality. I don’t know if it would have a good picture for gaming, but for office work, it’s perfect.

My eye's never hurt
Been using this for the past 3 years and my eye's never hurt once when using it, but then again rarely do they hurt when looking at most monitors nowadays, still the odd thing will cause strain but overall its a good little 75Hz monitor. Its very nice that it has Display port, HDMI and VGA, especially the VGA part because that means I can plug some older stuff into it as well. Its nice that it has speakers built inside but they are really quiet so its really hard to hear anything better than not having them at all (as that is what I was using till I got a set of speakers, which was the plan) Its nice to have the 3.5mm headphone jack, its what I use to plug my speaking into and free up space at the back of my computer to have my headset always plugged into (no more plugging and unplugging or having wires hang off the front panel of my PC making it look more clean, 69 Nice!) I have yet found a use for the D-Sub Port Don't really care about the free-sync/adaptive-sync, I haven't used that feature much
