The meal worms are fed a vegetarian diet, lending to a plant healthy fertilizer. Exoskeletons are the shedding of the insects as they molt. The exoskeletons are made of chitin (Kite-in), a tough protein, that when degraded, becomes a great fertilizer source. I got this and just assumed it would be. I have a medical marijuana grow permit and grow organically. I got this as a soil amendment. Thankfully I only made up enough soil for the seedling starter cups. About a week and a half after starting the seeds I had mealworms crawling all over the place. Did a search on them and found out that they we eat just about anything including the roots of your plant. Sent an email to the seller and they basically said they weren’t concerned, I got adamant and they refunded my money. I left it sit for about a year unused. Finally I put it in the oven at 200 degrees for 4 hours and it killed everything, then I used it.
