Boy this was tricky! Perfect for a beach week as various people tried their hands at finding connecting pieces. Very challenging. Just what was needed. You do not have any idea what the picture is you’re putting together! Will buy another one next year!

I added an image because I’ll admit there were moments where I got frustrated and wished I could take a quick look to get an idea of what the puzzle was. BUT with that being said, really the part that I loved was that I DIDN’T know what the image was. Once I got a decent amount put together, I couldn’t stop working on it. Took me a little while to do but this is the first puzzle I’ve done probably ever, beyond small ones when I was a kid. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and loved the mystery of not knowing what the final image was. The story was eh, but reminded me of the Poirot mysteries which I love. Bought another from this brand as soon as I finished this one and can’t wait to get started on it! Only con - I had one corner piece missing, but honestly I moved the puzzle around the house on a board to work on and could have lost it along the way so I won’t fault the manufacturer on that and it didn’t take away from the enjoyment of the puzzle.

This was my first time trying this kind of puzzle. The puzzles were easy to assemble. Overall, the experience was great until I was near the end of the puzzle and realized three pieces were missing. Ironically, I also had three extra pieces that did not fit anywhere. Needless to say, this was a disappointment. Therefore I gave this puzzle 4 out of 5 stars.

Very fun puzzle, good mystery

I was really excited to buy this product. I love mysteries and puzzles, so the idea of getting a puzzle that you didn't know what the picture looked like until you finished it was extremely interesting. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed in this product. I like how they've redesigned the boxes so now the whole series looks uniform. The included story book is made of flimsy paper and the letter print is very small, but these weren't problems for me. The story itself was interesting enough and was extremely similar but not exactly like the famous writing that it is derived from. The pieces of the puzzle were the biggest let down for me. They're made from very soft cardboard, reminiscent of any Springbok's puzzle. They don't hold together well and the image itself seemed blurry to me. I blame the piece material for this more than the printing job. The image was clear and assembling the puzzle wasn't difficult because there were enough color variations to make it easy. The whole thing took about two days for me to put together and I did have fun assembling the puzzle and working out the murderer. I don't think this puzzle or the others in the series are worth the money, especially after I saw the price rise. The first puzzle I saw was the Sherlock Holmes version and it was priced at a little more than $9. When I last looked at it, it's priced at around $20. The quality of this puzzle does not equate to that price tag.

I have done several of these puzzles and enjoyed them very much. They are a challenge but I wanted something that was bit more difficult. There is on picture, but once I got the edges done, it was easier to find color matches. The mystery stories are well written. I have to admit I did not always solve the mystery, but I was more interested in completing the puzzle.

I picked this up for my husband, who loves to do a puzzle every year during the holidays and is always looking for a new challenge. Not only is this one 1000 pieces, but the picture is unknown. Included is a booklet with the short story, which ends with the mystery unsolved (although there are enough clues that it's not hard for mystery sleuths to have a pretty good idea where its headed). Whether or not a person can guess the 'who-done-it' has little to do with the challenge of putting the puzzle together. This is a larger puzzle and luckily, we left ourselves quite a bit of table space. It took 4 of us around 4 hours to complete it. While it's impossible to guess what the puzzle will look like when completed, there are contrasting colors/textures as well as familiar objects to make sure it doesn't get too difficult. The pieces aren't always cleanly cut (little ears of paper from the pack not cut clean on a few), but that wasn't a problem. The cuts were also very varied, and the pieces do sit nicely together. After finishing the puzzle, some of the mystery was solved. The rest was explained in the booklet...some of which seemed a little far-fetched but that's not the point. It was quite a bit of fun to do, kept even my two older teens entertained the entire time (they usually give up on the puzzling after 1/2 hour or so), and added a fun activity to the holiday weekend. I'd definitely buy it again.

If you like jigsaws , you will love the challenge of the unknown picture you are building. Read the story and solve the mystery.

Fun and challenging

This puzzle is like none other I have ever done. The puzzle pieces are different sizes, colours with weird shapes. Frustrating at times, very challenging and requires lots of patience.
