READ THE DIRECTIONS FIRST
Good day to everyone who is reading my review I’m the kind of person that likes to read reviews on a product that I will get and after I read them especially the 1&2 star review I have found out a couple of interesting things First thing I have noticed that many people don’t know how to follow the directions that come with the product they rather completely ignore them WOW !!! Well I have purchased the instant ocean sea clone 100 and it is a very nice unit for the price and it is doing a very good job on my 55 gallon show tank I am not just a hobbyist and I have kept salt water aquariums in my house for over 20 years This protein skimmer is a great value and does a great job It’s a little bit noisy but it’s not difficult to find the sweet spot for it It only took about 20 minutes to install and READ THE DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO USE IT!! People be patient and you will have a great skimmer This is a follow up well I can say that with out a doubt after about a week I have been able to dial it in and it is doing very well and has my salt water aquarium looking very beautiful No problem with any leaks and it’s a good deal more quiet than I have expected

Works Great and the Price can not be Beat
I think I understand why there are so many mixed reviews.... Since this unit is so cheap compared to other versions, it’s going to be a more attractive option for first time buyers with new tanks. This thing isn’t going to have any protein to skim if there’s no enough protein in the tank it can skim. I waited about a month since stating my first saltwater tank before I bought one. After one day of use I already see the cup at the top starting to trap the nasty water. Even still it’s probably overkill for my 55 gallon tank but it’s working. My only complaint about it is the stiff tubing... I can see why some people would get leaks. If it were to be twerked the wrong way I’m sure there would be issues. Also, it’s worth cleaning it and letting it run in a bucket for a while before using it with your tank. There was a lot of packaging debris clinging to the inside and outside of the components because of static and limited packaging protection. All of the pictures and reviews I’ve seen show a lot of salt build up at the water return area. So I added some black gaffers tape along the top of the ramp to help mitigate that. We’ll see if it actually helps over time. I’ll update my review over time. For now though, it’s been running successfully for a full day and night. Definitely worth your consideration ion especially with Amazon’s return policy.

Reliable skimmer!
I’ll tell you what, initially I was deterred because of the negative reviews. I eventually gave in and tried this skimmer. Not only is it super powerful, it pulls skimmate from the water that is darker than any other skimmer I have used before. It took about 5 days total for the item to break in enough to work efficiently. During the first five days, the skimmer produced so many micro bubbles I had to use a piece of filter floss to cover the water return to break up the bubbles flowing into my tank. However, after about a week, the bubbles reduced, and the skimmer worked so well - it just took a few days to break in and run nonstop. The skimmer requires little to no adjustment. I only adjust and tweak the water flow every 4 days or so. I simply turn the air off and let the skimmer do a complete water drain to kick loose any built of air pockets and in less than 30 seconds, I’m back up and running. For the money, this skimmer is my absolute favorite. I will say, it is LOUD. Very loud. As in, if your tank is in your bedroom where you sleep, maybe consider looking elsewhere. But if you want a reliable skimmer that works consistently with little maintenance, this thing is awesome. I’ve had it on my tank for a little over a month at this point. The only reason it did not get five stars from me is due to the noise the pump makes (I’m considering buying a different and more quiet water pump for it). Give it a shot!

This Skimmer works like a champ!
I first saw these skimmers at petco and they were $120 there. After checking it out here on Amazon I decided to try one out. After all ~$70 isn't too bad when a reef octopus is $300+.... I figured if nothing else I'd return it. The reviews had me skeptical about how well this thing would work. Some folks seemed to think it was garbage and had trouble with setting it up / micro bubbles escaping into their tank. On my end I had this thing setup on my 40gallon mixed reef and running within about 10 minutes of receiving it. Getting it dialed in to skim effectively took about another 20 minutes combined effort throughout the day, checking the pressure every so often. After having it on my tank 24hrs I can confidently say that this thing works great. It does make some bubbling/ humming noise but that's to be expected. For context, I work from home and during conference calls sitting right next to the tank, no one has mentioned any background noise... Highly recommended if you have a reef without a Skimmer. You can always upgrade later, but for around 70 bucks this is probably the best filtration you can find.

Yoy get what you pay for....
Junk! We just took a second one of these skimmers out of our tank. The first one failed & we found parts of it in the sand on the bottom of the tank, so we sent it back & we received a replacement quickly. I must say that Amazon was great about sending out a replacement before the skimmer was returned. We thought that we just got a lemon, but a week later the replacement did the same thing & we were fishing parts out of our tank from the defective skimmer. Unfortunately, we threw out the box so we can't send this piece of junk back. You get what you pay for I suppose....

Better then my old coralife skimmer
Bought this on a gamble b/c it was cheaper then replacing the pump (for the 3rd time over 8~ years) on my coralife 120(?) skimmer. 70~ gallon tank 4~ fish 4~ soft corals and a butt ton of sand, live rock, and plants. Pros: Used it for 20~ hours and it's skimmed what's showin in the first image *note this tank has been skimmer-less for weeks and pretty bad shape Heck'en cheap compared to others IDK why people are complaining about the sound. Wouldn't be good in a bedroom but any other room would be fine. Cons: Pump feels like it's the minimal GPH for the skimmer to work Not a fan of how the pipes seal with a single O-ring and a weak clamp Collection cup's smaller then expected but should still be fine for 2~ days Would be nice if it had a built in cup drain.

Not amazing, but functional, and up to a third of the price of a "good" skimmer
If you were thinking of DIY, consider this, keeping in mind I even bought a used one and I have never used skimmers before. Pre-modification, I experienced very minimal performance. Although, I would say it performed enough to be worth my money because, if I didn't buy this one, I likely couldn't afford a "good" skimmer for 6 months or more, and even in the first few months it pulled a none zero amount of skim-mate out of my tank. In addition I had been maintaining coral in a 55 gallon without a protein skimmer for 8 month, with exceptionally low nitrates, phosphates, ect. Of course, in this hobby who doesn't want to do less work? I had heard too many different people swear by just how effective protein skimmers actually are. So, I bought this one mostly out of curiosity. Before purchasing this I was in the DIY crowd, so modification was always something I kept in mind. I currently run this skimmer with an air pump powering two air stones, that are suspended in the first chamber where the bubbles are "produced". This configuration resulted in so many appropriately sized bubbles I could not see through the entire "reaction chamber". Pre-modification I could practically see through the thickest part of the bubble cloud, and completely see through the chamber below where the bubbles enter the reaction chamber. Skimming depends on several factors, two major ones are, the number of bubbles and the size of those bubbles. I think it is likely there are endless ways this could be modified into a better working skimmer, IF your out of box experience is less than what you expected it to be, and your willing to mod. I have pulled an astonishing amount of literally "black stuff" out of my apparently clean tank, with this low end skimmer, even before modifying it. That makes me very excited about the prospect of what a "good" skimmer might be able to do. The skim-mate it produces is not at all the ideal, but some is better than none. Overall, for the money, I would chose this skimmer over no skimmer.

Does a great job for the price.
I’ve been keeping salt water aquariums for many years. Was looking at an expensive skimmer that cost over $200 for my new 40 gallon tank, then I spotted this. I figured I’d try it for the price. Am really happy with it. Easy to set up and started working on day 3. It’s been running great for several weeks now. Might not be made quite as well as a more expensive one, but is definitely made well enough to do the job!

Producto regular
Es muy ruidoso y no es tan eficiente para tanques grandes, funciona bien hasta 150 litros
