Indiana is as hot as Kiev!
This device is very accurate and good for detection of radioactive Iodine-129 beta particles. Uranium deposits in limestone bed rock are detectable as well as nuclear waste in waterways from atomic weapons storage and manufacture. It is not safe to live with so much ionizing radiation as thyroid cancer rates are staggering in this part of the country! The GCA-03W confirms my long winded rants regarding high levels of radioactive material in the environment and its adverse affects on our health. I no longer have a thyroid gland due to exposure to radiation in the water, soil and air. Please, scientists, EPA, NRC and federal government, order some of these Images SI Geiger counters, run a few tests, and clean up the mess in Indiana.

Easy to use
May look retro but it works. Easy to use. Found out my rocks and minerals collection has some “hot” specimens.

Does everything you would need it to do
I worked in the nuclear industry and used expensive survey meters for years. This GCA-03 instrument does almost everything those multi-thousand dollar instruments can do, and it passes the same ANSI cert standard. It is extremely easy to use, and I like the toggle switches more than soft keys or touch-screen buttons. Very worth the little bit extra it costs over the really cheap choices out there.

Easy to use.
Easy interface. Haven’t come across anything it could detect yet. A good thing I suppose.

Broken?
I've kept this in a safe, and ordered a radiation card to test it It doesn't detect the radiation on the card. I believe whatever component that is required for this to work correctly must be faulty or bad (or too used) in the one I received.

I identifies spicy items
Don’t know what I’m doing with it yet. Bought some uranium glass to test it out but looks like war is coming so I added this to my supplies

Nice unit
Look at the webpage for used units before buying new. I could have save some $$ by doing this. Very happy with the unit.
User
Very good instrument. Just as described and I would buy it again.
I use this instrument to detect and measure radiation in dinosaur bones. It works very well for my purposes.
