Works well
Had this a few weeks now, and been using it to learn about basic woodturning. It works well if you are aware of the limitations and take a few basic precautions. First of all, throw away the included tools - they are rubbish - start by using ordinary woodworking chisels that must be very sharp. Make sure the lathe is securely mounted - a workmate will do fine, but it works better bolted to a workbench. Broomsticks make ideal material to learn on, and are cheap and have relatively dense grain. Learn how to centre the ends to insert the mandrel and tailstock - you can make or buy simple little tools to do this. Unless the workpiece is dead centre and perfectly round there will be a lot of vibration as you work on the piece - tighten the tailstock wingnuts by hand, then give them a little tap with a hammer to make sure it is in securely. The mandrel will eventually work loose - just turn the piece round, or cut a few mm off the end of the piece to make it fit tight again. The tool rest bolt is of poor material, and the crosshead soon wears out - just replace it with a harder bolt. Not much else to say, really - for ยฃ25 delivered to your door I would say it is a bargain. I have been watching Youtube videos on woodtuning and discovered the joys of using resin. the little piece I produced today (pictured) was made by making a 30mm cylindrical mould, filling it with pieces of thin bamboo and coloured resin, then turning it on the lathe, sanding and polishing it. I think it looks nice, and has encouraged me to do more. Will keep this little lathe for as long as it takes to learn, then buy a bigger one! Ignore the naysayers who say this lathe is rubbish - it's not, it is a good little tool and a real bargain.

Well worth the money!
Great bit of kit. Solid and adaptable with a little ingenuity. I have used this in restoration work for turning small wooden parts and metal parts such as brass bushes. Well worth the money.

Check the sizes!
Brilliant little lathe for the price. However, the picture with the dimensions is incorrect, although I now see the description sizes are correct, so slightly disappointed it is the same size as all the other suppliers on amazon, when the picture led me to believe it would be slightly longer.

Great lathe
Purchased for my 11 year old son, he is into crafting wood and this is ideal for him to start off with. He has made lots of wonderful little wooden Harry potter style wands, learning how to use tools to make different groves, markings. Very powerful also. He is very happy with his purchase.

Usefull product
This lathe is well made and functional. I would have given a higher value but it was over a week late and tracking was not very well implimented. Communication with seller was fair.
