100% Pure Tung Oil, Food Safe Wood Finish, 16 Fl Oz

Great stuff and worked amazing. Really brought out the natural grain pattern on my curly birch wood knife scales and should help protect them from moisture. Added a nice amber color to the wood while not making it overly dark. I did 5 coats, 1 coat a day for 60mins for 5 days amd it turned out great. I added before and after photos, should be easy to tell which are which. It's very easy to use just wipe on a thin layer and wipe off fully after 60mins. If the wood is soaking it in fast you can add another layer during that 60mins, but be sure to wipe it off fully after 60mins. Tung oil is a natural oil and will not dry like a stain or paint if you leave a layer on. You should wait 12-24hrs between coats to give the oil time to sink deeper into the wood. You can do as many coats as you would like, but once the wood stops absorbing the oil it's pointless to add more in my opinion. You can mix 1:1 with some mineral spirits to help it soak deeper into the wood for your first coat which is what I did, this works good if you have a dense wood as tung oil is a bit thick like maple syrup. Pure tung oil takes 2-4 weeks to fully dry and cure fully so keep that in mind. Once fully cured it polymerizes and forms a hard natural plastic like structure inside the wood grain, this is what helps protect the wood from moisture. Hope's is a bit spendy compared to other brands, but some of those other brands might not even be pure tung oil and mixed with other solvents or chemicals. At least with Hope's you know you're actually getting 100% pure tung oil.

Very good for old wood that’s seen better days. It brought out the wood grain and looked like I had varnished the table top. Easy to apply and works wonders all while protected the wood.

I used this to refurbish a couple cutting boards. It worked as promised, and oddly actually dried faster that some of the "non-food" tung oil blends I've used for furniture refinishing. It makes the surface more resistant to water and bacterial penetration.

I purchased this oil after attempting to lighten the finish on a wooden cross by sanding and using paint remover. I wanted to return the piece to a glossy finish. Hope’s 100% Pure Tung Oil was thick and easy to apply with a microfiber cloth. It has no odor, so I was able to pull on rubber gloves and work on this indoors. It dried overnight, so there were no days or weeks of waiting to add more coats. Three coats did a beautiful job. I’m giving it plenty of time to dry completely before deciding whether I need to add wax or clear coat to protect the shine.

So far very good -- I only applied it about 6 weeks ago, beginning of almost summery weather (Maine). Time will tell protection wise but with two pounding rain storms behind us plus a few light showers it has protected our Walker Edison out chairs and ottoman set very well, Water beads up and dries quickly. Very easy application, I applied with a cotton rag, Put on two coats. Next time I will apply with a brush as I think it will be easier to get into the joints, corners and such but it it went well with the cloth. Looks great, added a nice rich patina to the wood. The furniture will be brougt in before snow flies. I hope this set will last a few years thanks to Hope's Tung Oil.

Put a very nice protective finish on my cutting boards, fry pan flippers. Many, many coats has left a water beading resistant finish. So far has a long lasting finish, a few years now. Food safe.

I haven’t had a chance to use this yet. But I’ve had it before in the past when I was refinishing furniture. I’m going to use this on my wooden knife handles and I have a very old oak chair that I’m going to sand down then use this tung oil on it. I’ve always liked a tung oil finish on furniture. It gives it a protective finish with a perfect sheen!!!

Como dice en la publicación 100% aceite de tung... Algo difícil de encontrar aquí en México... Lo he usado en proyectos de carpintería en específico con nogal americano. Y ha dado excelente resultados aplicado de la manera correcta. Una pena que hayan elevado el precio lo adquirí en $263.00. Buenas compras
