Hornby R3855 BR, Princess Royal Class, 4-6-2, 46211 Queen Maud - Era 5 Locomotive - Steam

This engine runs just so smoothly and at very low speeds, it doesn’t cut out on the points and is very quiet. Superb.

Works beautifully. Smooth runner. A few nick picks but overall 9.5/10! Hornby's best model in recent years!

Hornby deserve a lot of credit in bringing such a handsome well detailed locomotive to market.It also a very smooth quiet runner on the tracks.These express engines are big so will look best on Hornby's 3rd & 4 th radius curves.The overhang of the rear trailing wheels is noticeable on tight 2nd radius curves and is not a good look.I like the finesse of the lining on the boiler bands and tender.Also worth pointing out that this is a very heavy machine which will make for a very powerful loco capable of pulling prototypical 12 coach loads.The loco is noticeably heavier than many other Hornby express locos.Have to say that I am delighted with this model

Queen Maud is a lovely loco which looks great, has nice additions (such as the flickering firebox) but most of all runs beautifully straight out of the box with extremely smooth start and stops and quiet running. I got this on offer which makes it a value addition to the fleet!
