Surprisingly... it helps with my chronic insomnia. Obviously doesn’t cure it let’s be realistic here but it does help me fall asleep faster. At first it is uncomfortable to lay on now I can sleep with it under me all night! Also helps with my back pain. Amazing non pharmacological intervention for sleep and pain!

Although at first I was acutely aware of the sharpness of the mat, once I relaxed I really enjoyed it. I use it at least once a day and completely zone out. I’m not sure how much it contributes to decreasing my back ache but think it does and it definitely helps me to have “time out”. I particularly enjoy the neck pillow.

It's a fine mat, well made, does the job, and seems like the best buy at this price point. The pillow is a good size and sturdy foam. My one real complaint is that the plastic prongs feel a bit sharper than the OG bed of nails mat I was introduced to. I'm unable to lay on this just my bare back, as it's uncomfortable and unbearable before you get to the good part. I had an easier time waiting out the initial discomfort on the BoN mat and find the sharpness of these to be distracting without a thin tshirt between.

I’m giving three stars because I’m comparing this to our Shakti mat. If you are used to acupuncture or have had a Shakti brand mat, this one will disappoint you. It’s not firm for the back and the spikes were not very sharp. We bought this as a replacement for the Shakti mat we had (since our dog ate it) and this one definitely did not have the same effect. However, if you have a low pain tolerance this would be a good first mat to have. In fact, let me know if you do since they won’t let me return this one since it’s been opened.
