Iron for the Eagles

It's a fair introduction into Roman blacksmithing. The section on iron smelting is horribly outdated and the author makes some assumptions for tools without any sort of documentation to support their usage in Roman forges (bottom tools being the worst offenders.)

This book is excellent. So informative. I'm trying to learn the basics of smithing in order to recreate Romqn armor. This book is my teacher!

A well written and fascinating insight into the supply of iron for the Roman Army.
