Bob's Red Mill Oats Steel Cut - 24 oz - 2 pk

Scientists throughout the world agree: steel-cut oatmeal (the real thing, not those instants) is vastly better than rolled oats. Texture is better, flavor is massively better. I've been eating the Red Mill for a few weeks and now I'm ordering multiple bags from Amazon. Bob's Red Mill oatmeal is the best flavor I've found in oatmeal--like a number of Red Mill products, it's top quality; I love it. Oh, and it is EASY and fast to make oatmeal in your microwave, do the "ask this reviewer a question" button if you want details.

For a few years, I have preferred steel-cut oatmeal. Its consistency kind of reminds me of tapioca pudding (not the taste!). These oats seem slightly smaller than the McCann's brand. I like my oatmeal extremely thick, so (when I remember) I use about 15oz of water for every 16oz of water it calls for. I use more salt than it calls for, as well as cinnamon. The only issue with the order was that only one bag was the oatmeal; the second one was High Fiber Oat Bran Hot Cereal. As a Prime Member, I was given credit for the order and allowed to keep both bags. No one in my family wanted it; however, the neighbor was happy to receive the gift.

Oh my goodness, these steel cut oats are amazing! So much better than other brands. My kids, picky eaters, ask for these every morning. The morning I ran out and had another store brand, they turned their noses up and asked what was up with the oats that morning. These are now a pantry staple. Steel cut oats give the coziness of oatmeal, but the texture is just a little more satisfying. We are from the south and love grits, and it’s like a delicious grainy form of them. Less gritty, more oatmealy.

I'm hooked on this stuff. No more raisin bran for me. This is worth the extra bit of trouble it takes. I soak 100 grams of oats in 10oz. of water overnight in the microwave. Next morning, I run it for 30 minutes at 3/10ths power. Add a jolt of milk and some honey and it's thick, crunchy and delicious!

This is my go to breakfast every single morning. I top it with banana slices, fresh raspberries or strawberries and blueberries. It holds me until lunch and beyond at times. I love the fiber content too.

I couldn't fine this exact kind in stores any more, which was disappointing. Finally decided to go through Amazon. They are more expensive then in store, but the price of being in demand I suppose. I always like this brand and "style" of oats. They take a bit longer to cook but are more chewy and defined, which I prefer over mushy. I think it has a bit more flavor than the average rolled oats. They expire a little less than 2 years from my purchase date. (Purchase: June 2020 _ Exp: April 2022). The pictures I included show one of the two packages I purchased, as well as a comparison to the rolled oats version I had to settle for in store (same brand though). You can see any similarities or differences in packaging, plus the different in the oats themself.

Great product

This is steel cut oats that is truly steel cut oats. Cooked up more quickly than I anticipated. My slowish cooker only took 2 hours to present a delicious cereal. Much more tasty than those "instant" brands, which are so blah.
