Intuitive, nice to look at, super-fast preheat, I'm a fan!
Super easy to set up and use. And it is so nice to look at. It's nice that the light comes on when you open the door. It's very intuitive. I saw a lot of reviews that said they were shocked at how big it is. I think that refers to the depth of the machine. It is 15 1/2" deep without the handle. It was deeper than I had expected. But it's not very wide so I like that better as I have more space on my rapidly decreasing counter space. I also saw a lot of complaints about smoking and drips on the elements. Just cover it with a sheet pan (I cover my sheet pan in aluminum foil) and the drips will land there. There is even a cautionary note on the front suggesting this. The preheat function was wicked fast - less than a minute to 450F. Since I just got it, my function titles are intact so I took a pic in case anyone needs it after they rub off (as I hear they do). The functions were super easy to use and self-explanatory. I didn't use any of the paperwork sent along. Well, that was until I preheated for some frozen shrimp and noticed the smell. It is suggested (and I concur) that doing a "burn out" is helpful. Its 450F for 20 minutes on bake with all pans, etc inside the oven. I'm running that right now. The oven is not very loud - but it is not as quiet as a regular oven. I posted a video of that and you can tell that the oven is quieter than the cars driving down the highway outside my house (the window is open). Overall, having just opened it and done a "burnout" and now my frozen shrimp are cooking (it remembered that initial setting), I really like this product. It's my second Ninja Foodie purchase (the first was THE MOST AWESOME blender) and I'm quite the fan. I wonder else I can throw my money at NinjaShark for????

Just perfect, beautifully designed and economical
I am not a domestic goddess and I don't write a lot of reviews but I had to write one for the Ninja air feuer toaster oven. I totally love it and it has transformed.what I can do in the kitchen!! After hours (probably days) of checking different air fryer toaster ovens and readond 100s of reciews I ordered the ninja dt251 (and grateful.it was on special). I was terrified it would be complicated and I would not be able to operate it, but it came with great instructions, even each box is well labeled and it is very easy. It is so much prettier than I expected and it fits well on our countertop, actually taking up less width than our larg microwave. There is a good 4" clearance under the top cabinets and it does not radiate a lot of heat, yes it is warm to touch while it is going but I am not worried anyone will get burnt on it. I did wash everything and do the preheat as recommended and have used it three times now, for fries, a Bundt cake (my first cake in years!!, it was not a big mixture as I was worried it might do something wierd like overflow out of the pan, but I could have doubled the mixture) And dry roasting (on air fryer mode) cashews. All came out evenly cooked and Jimmy. I love love this, after living with an old gas oven (that was literally taped together but we didn't realize when we bought the house) and it uses heaps of gas (expensive!) And it gives off a lot of heat. Since we are in the throws of other major house repairs we have not even considered a new oven due to the cost, but the Ninja 10 in 1 is a lot less than having a new oven I stalled and I can cook everything we used to enjoy plus more. So glad I was looking at toaster ovens and found tthis, the degree of thought and design in these is so clear, even the nice little feet they have that won't scratch your bench. Beautiful, if you are considering this, I would encourage you to!!

The truth? Let me tell you!
To start with let me begin with things I like about and then move on to those things that are improvement and lastly one that is poor. Shipping box and delivery from Amazon.com LLC. was as typical of PRIME with one issue with missing delivery by a day and having no notifications as normal fulfillment goes with Amazon. Oven was shipped in a sturdy and protective box and packed well. Oven documentation was adequate but a little confusing with the "2nd level" feature and how the thermometer works in conjunction with the different cooking methods. This was resolved after acclimating with the learning curve but was not difficult, simply different processes. Quality is outstanding and can feel the thickness of the stainless, the steal, glass, and rubber seals for the door, the tactile feedback and "button" feels solid, the display is bright and good colors. There is a review that is popular with noise complaints and light, etc. I will address these: Noise: The feature of this oven is it's "True Surround Convection" trademarked technology. (while it sounds gimmicky indeed) it truly is impressive and that user clearly was uneducated from the manual as it clearly states there are 4 different modes, Max, High, Med, Low that the rear heated elements are circulating that hot air. If you want fast as possible and crispy as your vivid imagination can create or desire than you will hear the NINJA - True Surround Convection sound like it is swirling that hot air to bring your tastebuds to heights you enjoy and that will be obviously loud not as in vacuum loud, hair dryer loud but circulating air in a XL cavity loud but not interfering with your music, tv or conversation. If you are concerned about waking up a mouse than use low-med speed as any generic convection countertop oven out there you have used for years; like my old Walmart cheapy Farberware that I used daily but when you compare this Ninja Foodi Air Fryer XL to anything else, you must understand this is like comparing a broom to a vacuum or a base model car to fully loaded and optioned out with everything. Warm up to temperature is less than 90 seconds and gives you a cool tone when preheating has reached temperature. Temperatures while cooking are on par with any high-quality oven, consistent and even. Accessories are good enamel cookware! When you use as directed with the drip tray and roasting tray on the bottom when using the basket to fry in, all messes are virtually non-existent and due to quality in material they are easy to soak up to a few hours for the worst soak in dawn and at end hot water rinse and you're done. On to another complaint of the popular Negative review is talking about auto light... Nope... This oven has a light, it comes on and goes off automatically. Another was tray on bottom not coming out with top basket, yes, you will have to use two hands to pull out a basket and drip tray at same time or use a piece of foil and lay over door and pull basket. However, I use to hands to drive with, empty trash or whisk in a bowl... Two hands are not a deal breaker and they slide easily and well... THE BAD AND UGLY Customer Service all outsourced and overseas and barely speak English and lack of any specialty or in-depth training/ knowledge. They might as well have no phone support as this was twice HORRIBLE. If you do get oils and stains on oven interior there is not good coating on the walls, and you must use stronger cleaner as there is no "soaking" for the chassis so the coating they use does not hold and comes off easily with chemicals like easy oven cleaner. For whatever reason engineered WITHOUT REAR FAN SPLASH GUARD; this was STUPID!!! what a mistake! ====UPDATE 02/09/2021===== Shark Ninja Warranty? I have used daily since purchase and an element broke (glass) at the top, thought that I was going to have "flack" and must fight. I did not, they asked me to use my phone so they could video with me to see the defect, talked to manager and in seconds they issued me a new oven and gave me a return label PREPAID to them on the defective one. WOW... JUST WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My oven will be here in a few days new in the box and I am excited.. I love all my meals from this oven..

Love this little oven
I went Carnivore some time ago and this little over is the BEST thing I have ever purchased. It does EVERYTHING. The menu is on the handle of the oven which I think is brilliant. It has very simple buttons that allow you to scroll through temp, time, and how you want to cook, bake, airfry, dehydrate, toast, etc...The light lights the entire over and stays on for a good long time making it nice if you are baking something you want to keep an eye on. It cooks FAST-often takes less time than various food packages state for airfryers/ovens. I have not had anything burn yet-and if you are a fan of making homemade hotwings or drumsticks, this little oven is great for that. It is big-but big in a compact good way. There is a lot of space inside this oven and it comes with two racks, a fryer basket, pan/roasting tray-I don't use the non stick pans it came with as I don't trust non-stick coating in general and I purchased other pans on amazon to use with it. There are some great stainless steel pans and pizza pans available that work just fine, like Deedro 12x10x1 baking sheets w/racks and Deedro 10 inch pizza pans. I have used a standard loaf pan, 8x10 pan, and a 9x13 pan inside it just fine. The menu on the handle tells you which level to cook on based on your selections and inside the oven on the right, the level numbers are impressed in the metal for reference. I DO recommend you clean it as you use it-don't let anything build up. Also, make sure you have enough counter space with a bit of a gap in the back, as this oven vents from behind. I have not used the included meat/temp probe yet, but have had great results all around. Love it.

Preheat is only a warm-up and you CAN bake WITHOUT the fan
Preheat function, rack positions, baking without convection (yes you can), etc 1...the FIRST thing you should do is line the crumb tray with foil or a silicone oven liner to make clean-up easier. I cut down a larger sheet of oven liner to fit and weighted it down with a couple of old butter knives that will now live there for the life of the oven. 2...clean it after each use. This could mean a quick wipe-down OR a "roll up your sleeves and get in there!" kind of clean. In other words, don't leave anything to get baked on the NEXT time you use the oven! The space in which you're cooking is small and those splatters don't have very far to go to hit the walls, bottom, and the top of the inside and, when baked on by repeated use, can turn out to be a PAIN to clean!!! 3...understand that this Ninja's "Preheat" function is NOT a true preheat, but more of a "knock the chill off the oven" function. To preheat prior to baking, place the grate in your desired position (see#4), add an additional 10 - 15 minutes to the time, and slap a good oven thermometer on the grate...when it hits the temp, allow an additional 3 - 5 minutes for the temp to stabilize, remove it, adjust your time, and get to cooking. 4...suggested rack positions are simply that...suggestions. For example, the suggested rack position for "bake" is #3, and that might be fine if you're baking a tray of cookies or something that's no thicker than a sheet pan, but if you're baking sandwich bread in a loaf pan or anything with a lot of height, the top will brown FAR too quickly as it's VERY close the the top elements. Drop the rack to #4 (bottom-most position) for a sandwich bread that will rise well above the pan...#3 is best for something with little-to-no spring like a lot of "quick breads". Either way, place the loaf pan in the middle of the rack so that the bottom elements are not directly underneath the pan and have a piece of foil ready to tent the top of the loaf once it's the shade of brown you're looking for. 5...speaking of "baking", as I don't use convection when I bake ("bake", as in breads/cookies, etc), not having the ability to disengage the fan almost stopped me from buying this unit, but I decided to go ahead and give it a shot anyway (I'm old, but not too old to adapt and change!). Fortunately, you CAN bake without having to use the fan...use the "Reheat" function (no fan!) as the time/temp adjusts the same as the bake function. I baked a 4x4x13 loaf using the reheat function and it came out perfectly by rotating once halfway through the bake and tenting the top once it got as brown as I wanted. Bottom line, consider WHAT it is you're baking and WHERE it needs to be placed in the oven for optimal, even heat distribution REGARDLESS of whether you use the fan or not. Keep an eye on it and adjust accordingly. 6...I don't air-fry often, so keep that in mind here (wink). I AF'd country-fried frozen beef patties, beer-battered frozen fish filets, and onion rings with no issues. What I've found is a great use for this AF (so far) is reheating/reCRISPING breaded leftovers and cold pizza (it does an EXCELLENT job on those!). As for pizza, I haven't tried cooking a hand-made pizza in it yet (never cared for frozen pizza), but it's on my list. I ordered a 10" cast iron comal to use as a "pizza stone" (cooking for one here) and it just arrived yesterday, so that's gonna happen this weekend. Anyway, so far, so good. I hope this long and rather wordy review/tips helps. I'm not sure if I can "update" a review at a later date, but if I can, I'll do so. Now crank that puppy up and get to cooking! :) UPDATE - after 6 months of use it's still cooking great...VERY pleased with this oven! Had to grab a "handle-less" CI skillet so I could make my cornbread (it's a southern thing!) and I haven't gotten around to baking a homemade pizza yet, but I HAVE "embraced" using convection...LOL!

Very powerful oven that cooks evenly. Recommended
My entire kitchen is Ninja, so when I saw they had an Air Fryer oven I had to buy it. The oven is smaller than others but more powerful. The wings come out crispy, French fries crispy. You can cook a whole chicken in it and it comes out great. Cooks fast and cooks evenly. My only issue is that the inside does get very stained with grease and it’s hard to get out. I’ve used a bunch of different degreasers and it’s still not fully out, but as long as you clean it after every cook it shouldn’t be a problem. You have so many different options, one option missing is the stay warm option but it’s fine I could just use the reheat option. I recommend this oven 10/10. You will not be disappointed.

Love this oven!
We were looking to update/upgrade from an old traditional spring-dial toaster oven. It worked okay for somethings, but really wasn't all that great. The Ninja DT-251 Foodi smart-oven is simply amazing, and actually only occupies a little more footprint than the old toaster oven. Okay, it's deeper, but overall it's not that much wider and it does so much more. Love the smart settings. Put in a couple of crumpets or bagels and it just gets it right in terms of heating or toasting. Took a little bit to get a sense of how long to air-fry frozen french fries, but they come out quite crispy—which is much better than the basket-style air-fryer we've been using where fries on the top and bottom might be crisp, but the ones in the middle certainly were not. I think the wire tray system is far better for things like this. I haven't tried anything truly major, like a roast or such, but I don't doubt this oven could handle it. I might actually see how it handles a turkey breast versus our regular non-convection oven. I dinged the star rating a little bit on "easy to clean" because after a months' use, I can see a little bit of spatter on/near the heating elements and there is just no cleaning those, not easily anyway. It's not bad, but I'll need to keep on top of it and/or find something that'll dissolve the burnt on spatter. The one drawback I'd say is that on air-fry/convection mode, this oven is kind of noisy. About on par with a typical air-fryer. It's just something to accept. Oh, many people remarked about a "fan cover" not being present, a kind of spatter guard. Personally I suspect it was a feature in the earliest designs, but I'll wager the Foodi engineers realized it was interfering with the airflow. Maybe it's an issue, maybe not, personally I suspect it's better not to have anything impeding those rear fans and will just pay especial care to when it needs cleaning. Besides, the airflow should help keep it from getting too fouled up. One piece of advice I'd offer after using any of the convection function is when done, leave the door open because that'll let the exhaust fan cool down the unit faster. Clearly there's a fan that runs even after it's done in order to protect the electronics. Leaving the door open cuts the post-cooking fan time to maybe 1/4. Anyway, love the oven, super-glad to have gotten an amazing Amazon 'Black Friday' deal on it. In fact, it was the only thing we bought that day.

This oven saved Thanksgiving and Christmas! I LOVE IT!
My gas oven stopped working right at the beginning of the 2025 holidays. I panicked because the holidays were so close, and instead of spending time searching for another oven, I needed to start cooking right away. So I purchased this Ninja DT251 Foodi 10-in-1 Smart XL Air Fry Oven. It is the perfect oven and it cooks absolutely everything, and I don't even need to look for anything else. It fits perfectly on my kitchen counter. It's easy to use, looks beautiful, and it has absolutely replaced my conventional gas oven. If you buy this oven, you will not need anything else! I LOVE IT!

Amo

Worth every dollar and fun to use!
I did a LOT of reading of reviews, articles and descriptions before deciding on this model. I have never been so excited about a new appliance, except for perhaps my first washing machine, but I digress. I measured my available space options to ensure enough clearance for heat, which I highly recommend. While my upper cupboards have a decorative bar along the edge a scant inch above the oven, the dissipating heat is not significant and they only get warm, not hot. I did discover that the small heat vent at the top of the back part does put out a lot of heat and moisture, so condensation can occur on my tiles behind this, even with over 15 cm/ 6” of clearance. So I put my oven on a piece of parchment paper and it now slides easily whenever I use it - I just turn it left so the back points out to the side away from the tiles. If I had an open space to put it, this wouldn’t be a concern. (See photos of back and side of oven space on my counter) My first meal was a 5 lb whole chicken - oh my it was so moist and flavourful! Perfect with the thermometer and a rack of potato wedges baking above in the basket. I do have my own meat thermometer, but it is super convenient to have the smart technology preprogram exactly how you like roasts, chicken, etc done. That was worth the extra money to have! I’ve since made many meals, roasts, even a 11.5 lb turkey! Baking squash chunks, roasting carrots and other veggies, or air frying them is quick and easy. Fish fillets are not dried out or overcooked once you learn the timings...since we don’t eat fried foods per se, but do enjoy roasted and air fried foods done this way, I bought a second air fryer basket. I couldn’t find a Ninja one, so ordered a Corsori one and it fits perfectly on the rack. You’d not use two racks at the same time as two baskets so that works well for me. (See photo with two baskets in place). Cleaning is a snap - even the baked-on grease or fat comes off readily if you put the pans/racks in warm soapy water right away to soak a bit - nothing a little effort can’t remove. Giving the interior a good wipe after each use prevents a buildup of grease/fat that may be very small droplets, but do accumulate over time. I use a sponge with a plastic scrubbie, nothing that could scratch the metal. My only wish is that there was a better (and free) guide for times to cook various common foods. From what I’ve read, most people reviewed the Ninja cookbook and said it wasn’t really worth the money. I use the internet for ideas, although one does get good at estimating time and temperatures. So, would I recommend this - absolutely! It is nice to look at, intuitive to use after a few times, easy to clean, effective and efficient with heat, and I’m sure will save me money in the long run from not using my huge oven all the time! Now I need to update my microwave, as even this Ninja doesn’t completely replace reheating up a cup of coffee haha!

A Phenomenal Countertop Convection Oven Replacing our Full Size Oven!!
Our main oven stopped working, and when we were faced with the decision of replacing it, especially in the current pandemic climate, we were a bit stuck on what to do. Should we brave going out into an appliance store to look at a new full size oven? Then go through the process of having the new full size oven delivered into our home? We decided against this and looked into a temporary solution that would tide us over for potentially the next 6 months to a year, and here enter the Ninja Foodi 10-in-1 Air Fry Digital Countertop Convection Oven! We have been using the oven for about a month at this point, and this product has completely exceeded our expectations! It literally pre-heats in under 1 minute to temperatures around 425 F, which easily is 5 to potentially 10 times faster than our full size oven when it was working optimally! That alone cuts down considerably on cooking and prep times when it’s come to family meals! The size of the countertop oven is also incredible, obviously being not as large as a full size oven, but more than adequate for every meal we have been cooking over the past month for our family of 3! It’s also incredibly easy and intuitive to use, my 3 year old loves to help push the buttons to commence cooking, and if we let him know the Mode, Cooking Temp and Time, even he knows how to get everything started and cooking every time successfully (always with our supervision of course)! I’ve read some of the negative reviews, and I can state that yes, the oven fan does make noise, but it is hardly enough to be considered “too noisy”. It’s not silent or super quiet, but it’s definitely no louder than a normal microwave. Also, some negative reviews have stated the oven is difficult to clean due to the design of the heating elements. I can understand this if food splatter or crumbs build up at the bottom of the oven, but after a month of use, we have not had very much mess result from our cooking, but I’m sure with more use we will encounter some cleaning challenges. We actually just use one of the provided cooking pans placed on the bottom rack for any items we cook directly on the third rack, and this has been able to catch any falling food debris keeping the bottom quite clean. In this way, I feel much of the criticisms can either be easily overcome, or aren’t as bad as some of the more negative focused reviews are making it sound. Overall, this product is becoming one of our most essential and most used kitten items in our household, which says a lot of an item we were only initially looking to purchase to temporarily substitute for our full size oven. To be honest, we’re now only using our full size oven for its stove top, which still works, and we may just continue to use the Ninja Foodi 10-in-1 Air Fry Digital Countertop Convection oven as our primary family home oven for the foreseeable future! Even when we get the option to replace our full size oven, which to our family, says a whole lot about the quality and genuine worth of this product! So highly recommended, and I’m also now very excited to look at other Ninja Foodi products to add to our kitchen collection!
