Modern Craftsman Distressed Oak Media Console by Home Styles

Bought this for my son and he loves it. Easy to assemble and well made.

Bought this unit, the small end table and 3-peice Gaming Entertainment center. Pricing was reasonable when we bought it but find that the pricing is all over the map depending on day you view it.. ? Very sturdy but will say that we loaded the middle shelf with substantial number of books and the shelf is sagging despite crossmember under it. But we are asking a lot of that shelf with number of books we have on it. Few books and deco pieces would be fine. Wood is beautiful - good graining. Metal parts are very nice. Very happy with this purchase. Do have to agree with other reviewers that drawers tend to 'stick' - will just use some wax to ease that up and I think it will be fine.

I am happy with the product, but there are some real problems at their factory. The product arrived with some minor chipping on one corner that could have happened during shipping. No biggie. It also arrived with one of the two drawer-fronts partially knocked off, and the rear wall of one of the drawers completely broken off in two places. Further, the center guide rail for one of the drawers was loose and fell off as I removed the drawer to try and fix it. That rail had mismatched screws, one not even long enough to bite into the wood. Since the drawer was fully inserted and protected by the drawer case, none of this damage could have happened during shipping. I can't even figure out how this damage could have happened during manufacture. And the wrong screws? Replacing the screws, clamping and gluing the drawer front, and gluing the pieces of the rear drawer wall together was easy enough, but not work one expects to have to do. Also, you need a power screwdriver (or alternatively a drill) to put in the 24 screws, as they are self tapping wood screws with no holes drilled in the wood. Again, not much of a problem but it would surprise someone who got this and thought, per the instructions, they just needed a screwdriver. At 130 pounds, flipping the unit over during assembly may need a second person, depending on your strength. All in all, this was not easy "Ikea" type assembly. The unit itself however, is quite solid, seems well engineered, and is attractive. So I compromised and gave it three stars. I am happy with it, but buyer beware.

Extremely sturdy and good quality. We have moved apartments three times with this tv stand and it's still in great condition. The wood is a nice rich brown (true to pictures) with natural looking grain. The drawers pull out smoothly, no snagging. The shelves have a nice amount tong space in order to put books, PlayStation, etc. I've honestly had a lot of bad luck in the past, purchasing furniture off of amazon, but this one is for sure a winner.

I bought this product at a great price but when it arrived it was unfortunately, damaged. The corners were cracked, one of the drawers was cracked in the middle and one of the drawer rails was unattached. I called the manufacturer who blamed the shipper. The shipper "Cymex", asked for photo's to verify the damages and after a few days they sent me a new replacement. Considering that the whole shipment weights around 120lbs, I was grateful that I did not have to send the damaged Console back to Cymex. The replacement arrived but was also damaged (ugh!) but I was able to take the best parts from both new and previous, to create a single working Media Console. Unfortunately, the drawer rail system on this product was still poorly installed. Half the screws were not even secure. What I did was unscrew the rails, add wood glue, resecured the rails. Once the glue dried, the rail system was very secure. I don't understand why they don't use wood glue but thats the fix I used and it works well. Although the majority of this product is made out of particle board or other like material, once put together it looks very nice and many people couldn't tell that it was not made out of real wood. Wood is being used for the drawer box, the drawer rail system and as extra support for the structure. The shelves are not made of wood. The metal frame was easy to install but had scratchs on the edges. I just made sure that those with scratchs were positioned in the rear and not the front. It took about 35 minutes for two people to complete the installation using the provided L tool and screws. I find the product very secure and it holds a large screen LCD TV. 3 stars for the product and 1 star for the replacement resulting in a good looking Media Console.

This is one of my favorite pieces of furniture. It's incredibly sturdy and just gorgeous. I received it in perfect condition. There were no scratches or any other defects. You have to assemble it yourself and It would be helpful to have two people to do it as this is also a really heavy piece. The two drawers are roomy enough for my assorted video game controllers and sundries. The two lower shelves are also roomy. For such a large piece of furniture it's not to oppressive. The open shelves make it seem very open. It will also fit a pretty big TV on it. making my wish I had something more than a 26"!

Quality components, no problems with finish or lamination. Easy to assemble (~ 1 hour), uses about 20 wood screws and 20 bolts. Everything went together easily, no issues with the length of the wood screws. The metal frame and large, one piece shelves are very solid. The drawers come assembled and are also solid. The amazon picture gives a good sense of the color and finish.

NOT SOLID WOOD! They put a poplar veneer on the under side to cover up the MDF underneath. Their claim is a total lie. That being said, the price fits the quality, and with two people it comes together well, especially if you have a handy person around the house to bend a pipe back when it's been bent in shipping. Our unit also sustained some damage to the wood, but it's not in a noticeable spot. I would recommend looking at each piece thoroughly before assembly, just in case you have to deal with the unpleasant chore of repackaging it and sending it back. It is an attractive an sturdy piece, everything else aside. Good luck!
