Kingston Cooling Fan for HyperX PC Memory KHX-Fan

After reading many reviews of different memory coolers, I had expected some problems with fitting the KHX Fan into my small DELL Vostro 230MT's Mini-Tower case, but there was a plenty of room to clear the CPU cooler and the big, fat ZOTAC GT240 Graphics card, too !! The easy installation was completed in less than 10 minutes -- Although the fans were not silent, they were MUCH more quiet than I had expected. Kingston did a great job on the design, as the whole unit is compact, but just big enough to get the air to where it's needed !! It's easy to assemble, fits just right, and doesn't shake or vibrate at all !! The KHX's mounting brackets will fit your 2-slot, 3-slot, or 4-slot setup with no looseness and/or vibration, and the increased air flow helps to minimize heat buildup throughout the entire case. As for the beauty of the beast -- I guess it's a matter of taste, but I think the well-made unit is also very sharp-looking (just in case your friends should want to inspect your 'puter's innards), with an exciting blue-anodized aluminum body and 4 blue LEDs in each of the two (2) 60-millimeter fans. Some reviewers complained about the LEDs being too bright -- or too tacky -- or too whatever, but I kinda like 'em !! Besides, the Blue LED lites match the existing blue lights on the DELL case, the Asus Monitor, and the Motorola cable modem. It's like it's color-coordinated, just in case you care !! The Kingston KHX Fan is the perfect compliment to Kingston's HYPERX line of high-performance memory, but since the unit attaches to the memory slot locking tabs and IS NOT in contact with the memory stick, heat spreaders, and/or the mobo, it will work just as well with other brands and types of PC memory. PC Memory Sticks are a standard length, and the KHX Fan is made to fit that length. There should be NO BENDING necessary, so if it looks like you need to bend something to get it to fit -- STEP AWAY and take another look !! After installation of the KHX, both my memory temps and CPU temps were (and still are!) are much cooler than before, the fans are almost silent, and the pretty blue LED lites have a calming effect on my aging psyche. This looks great in my PC and also keeps my 12GB of ram nice and cool. It is very bright though so just make sure you know what you're buying. It fit very easily. even on my original motherboard. I used to have a small, cheap motherboard that only had 2 RAM slots and it still fit alright in there but then i bought the ASUS M4A87TD EVO motherboard and it fits, and matches even better! So its a great buy, if you have high quality ram, i would suggest this fan. Especially if you are overclocking. Installing, all i had to do was plug it to my motherboard, and ofcourse set it on my RAM slots that hold the actual RAM. It has 2 legs that attach to the actual fan part and you set it on you're RAM, and then tighten the screws. very simple, very easy. 5*

At least not very well, and the unit hovers quite a ways above the chips requiring a lot of space in all three dimensions. also, the fans pull the heat off and blows it straight out so you will need an outtake fan or two otherwise the heat will simply cycle back into the chips and cpu. I was pretty dissapointed, a few slight size adjustments and clip improvements would make a huge difference. If you have a good intake/outake aircooled tower this is hardly worth buying as it will mess up airflow...and if you don't this is likely to simply distribute the heat to all corners of the tower. All in all I do not reccomend this product.

This is a cool little feature if you want to simultaneously add and control airflow and help to regulate Memory temerature. Believe it or not I use this fan with a Hyper N520 CPU Cooler (looks like the transmission from my mustang) and low-profile ram- it works fabulously. As mentioned in other reviews, a possibly serious drawback is the metal legs. These could easily be pushed or slid to have contact with other components in your case if the legs aren't tight. To top that off they are entirely metal and would short any circuitry they came in contact with. I was trying to dream up a quick insulative solution, like elmer's and a fine grade snd mixture. This could be applied on the lower two cm of each leg then allowed to dry and possibly sand the solid product. Perhaps even a thick coat or two of fingernail polish would do the trick. Someone else accurately remarked that these fans are not the holy chalice of well oiled~ Whichever reviewer said it, it was a good idea - a drop of motor oil on the fan spindle should be a semi-permanent fix for the minor scrape sounds I detected. They weren't overpowering or even really obvious, but once the fans had broke the factory seal a bit they began to sound poorly oiled. After the oil these kittens purr, quiet as a baby and they make the entire inner chassie a sacred dwelling place for blue flashy lights.

The two fans look great, the wiring is well placed, and the color is beautiful.Out of all the computer components I have bought, this could have been a really good product. The bad thing is the side hinges that grapple the ram section is not secure at all. The pins that screw in are so flimsy, and only lock in place if pulled/pressed against.The biggest problem with the design is the screws that are supposed to screw in, do not screw in properly to lock the sides at all. This makes this product very disappointing as you have the risk of easily dropping this fan on other computer components very easily, if just easily tapped or moved. I would definitely not recommend this product to anyone solely because of this. Definitely disappointed for this horrible design flaw... aren't screws supposed to screw in?!? Might as well placed dowels that instruct the user to put pressure to hold this thing together. This is going into storage...

This is a great fan to have for overclockers and the like. Powerful and pretty darn quiet too.There are a couple of things to look out for though...-Before you buy, closely look at your motherboard. You should look out for certain things.-The way your memory slots are set out. On my motherboard, the slots are set out so they are in slightly different positions to each other. This meant that the fan could only get half a grip on each side, and was somewhat wobbly and moveable. It still works fine, but could prove slightly annoying for people who want the aesthetic appeal.(EDIT: Recently I knocked my case accidentally and the metal fan attachment came into contact with my memory, frying 2GB of my 4GB memory. If your motherboard has the layout detailed above, take EXTREME caution using this fan- either take the risk, buy a new motherboard or DON'T buy the fan.)-The CPU fan. For most motherboards, the CPU is close (or right next) to the memory. If you have a REALLY meaty CPU cooler tacked onto there, then you might have a problem with getting it to fit. Again, this is only an aesthetic problem, but if that's what you were building for...-The power jack. There's only one, and it just needs to be plugged into the motherboard. However, you should check to see if the motherboard actually has a 3-pin fan control socket before buying. Chances are, it does, but I didn't know that before I bought it.But don't let this discourage you. This is a really great product. It's sleek, bright as all hell, and functional too. All you need to do is do your homework to make sure it's the right fan for you (or more precisely, your motherboard). :D

これでPC内のファンは全部ブルーになりました。部屋を暗くすると、一段と綺麗ですよ！CPUファンを、少々ずらして、無理やりに取り付けました。8ｃｍのファンだけ、少し色違い。ちょっぴり残念ファンコンの温度は1〜2度下がりました！結構、効果有りなのかな？故障により、再購入です。やっぱりこの色に慣れたら、他は考えられません。１台目、ケーブルの故障。２台目、LEDの故障。３台目、元気に頑張っています。今日は、取り外しをして温度を見てみました。無し、35度有り、32度確実に冷えてます！
