Easy to Use and reliable
I really like the Boadvision 2K Outdoor Camera — it’s easy to install and connect. You can share the QR code with your family, so everyone can access the camera easily. The image quality is clear, and you can check everything in real time through the app. It also has a speaker and microphone, so you can talk and listen directly through the camera. I already have four of them installed — in my father’s house, my mother’s house, and mine — and they’ve all worked great so far. Overall, it’s a very convenient and reliable camera for keeping an eye on your home.

For the price, it's fantastic
If you just need something to keep an eye on your home or around the house, this is for you. I was able to set it up right away with my wireless internet. You control it with an app on your phone. It has both a microphone and a speaker, so you can listen for sounds and also speak through the camera itself. That's pretty crazy. It has Night vision, intelligent tracking, motion detection, recording, photos and videos, an alarm system, so many features. SD card support too! You can download what it saves straight to your phone as well as save video length. You can also set up push notifications for motion detection and intelligent tracking. All of this so far is well worth what it costs. There's really only a couple of downsides. The video and picture quality isn't spectacular. There isn't much zoom at all. It is powered by plug-in only. They (Boavision) DO make an extra-long extension. I had to get it. I also recommend taping the connections just to be safe. There are no batteries. I did try using this with a small solar panel, but it wasn't strong enough to keep it going at night. You really gotta use the plugin. Intelligent tracking can get a bit too responsive even at the lowest setting; wind really interferes with what it recognizes. I had it set up for push notifications but turned them off on my first windy day. It is not terrible though: I live around a lot of trees, so it's more of a me problem. Even after all this I'm still learning new things that I can do with it. If you're looking for a cheap effective camera that works to just keep a check on your home or any area really, I can recommend this one. For the price it is such a great deal. You can also have more than one going at one time. I've been considering getting a second one for a different place at my home.

Good camera but with one fatal flaw
My review is only based on using one of these cameras for about 24 hours, so I can't speak to the longevity yet. These are very easy to set up and get going. They function much like most of the IP cameras available. The picture quality is excellent, especially at night. The one reason I specifically chose this particular model is because it supported RTSP/ONVIF and FTP. But this is where there's a problem. The camera only sends files to the FTP server when the FTP server is UP. If the FTP server is not up, the images/videos are only saved on the SD card and are not queued to be sent to the FTP server when it goes online. This is a major downfall for me because I run the FTP server on my PC, and it's not on 24/7. My previous security cameras (Trivision) would queue the files and send them when the FTP server is available. The tech support from Boavision is great, they reply to emails promptly. I asked about this particular issue, and how to retrieve all the videos and images from the camera, and the answer is to take the SD card out of the camera, and put it in a PC. Well this isn't practical to have to go out, climb a ladder, unscrew the access panel and get the SD card out, every day. I run dd-wrt on my router so I can run a FTP server on it with a thumbdrive and work around the issue, sort of. Other things I noted about the camera; it's all plastic. Not a surprise at the price point. It only records 14 seconds at a time. If motion continues to be detected, it keeps recording another 14 second video, and another. So if you have a long event you want to share the recording of, you'll have to marry the 14 second videos together or share all of the individual videos. There's no pre-record, so the videos start about a second after motion is detected. The cover for the SD card presses on the SD card, so when you take the cover off, the SD card is ejected. It looks like it should fit around/over the SD card but, it doesn't. Doesn't seem like it seals correctly with the SD card pushing on it. The videos are .264 format (the file extension is .264) MPC-BE plays them fine, but I had to find a utility to get Windows 10 to create thumbnails for the files. To access the camera from the PC you have to use IE and their plugin. You can't use Chrome or Firefox; it looks for Adobe Flash. Didn't try the app. Didn't trust the author and their website is flagged as 'potential security risk'. Camera does work fine to just monitor it using Contacam. Works well with IP Cam Viewer Pro using ONVIF, even the PTZ. Video size is fixed at 1920x1080, or 640x352 for the secondary stream. And 15fps seems to be the max the camera can do. You can set it lower, but setting higher doesn't change the FPS. Time will tell about the longevity of it outdoors. 5/2/21 - Now discovered camera apparently formats the SD card every night at midnight. So the only videos you can get are from midnight onward. Asked support and was told to use the app to view the videos. Well if they're not on the SD card, it's not going to show them to you. Update: Discovered camera defaults to 'timer record', recording 10 minutes at a time, constantly. This may have been filling up the SD card and from the log, I can see it's only action is to delete the oldest day's recordings, not just the oldest recording. Also of note, these timer recordings, are not uploaded to the FTP, only the videos recorded when motion is sensed are. The timer record being enabled may also explain the delay in the motion sensed video starting.

Out of three only the one that was set to track had any sort of failure after over a year of use.
What can I say, for the price they're unbelievable. They don't zoom, it's there in the app but it's jist digital, but they pan and tilt on demand which lets me not care about how they are aimed when I put them up, and allows me to look around when I feel the need to. The PT also tries to follow people if Intelligent Tracking is on, but it likes to misdetect a lot of things and wears the motors out, as I found out on the one camera I was able to leave it on without constant hits on inanimate objects. That camera still works, but if the track of the motor isn't worn then something's nested inside of it, I'm a little afraid to find out honestly. The web interface is... simple, at best, the android app is above and beyond superior in that regard, so that's the preferable way to interact with them. I will say, since they went up, the local gas siphons haven't touched the vehicles, one thief was caught live, and we got the face of a potential burglar that got arrested when someone else called on them for trespassing on private property. Oh, and a ton of animals, cats, skunks, deer, a bear or two once, Image os mlre than clear enough to make out most details for quote a distance, though if locense plates are a need I can't say on that front because none of them are aimed very well down any roads to have a shot good for that. The functionality over wifi is alright, but I would have preferred if they could run 48V PoE/PoE+, that would make the power situation a whole lot easier to deal with since it would also be the internet, as it is the power runs are a bit ridiculous, two of them are run out of a tri split extension cord snaked around some framing just so that the cables could reach, and I used one of the included extensions for the third one, smashed it down into the crease of a window and hoped it would be fine, which it has been. Would rather just run single PoE lines out to each of them to get power, reduce the wifi traffic on the 2.4 band, and stop worrying about the low signal on the far out camera that likes to disconnect while viewing. I see PoE to barrel splitters sold, I might get a couple of 12V ones to see how that works out, again would help a ton.

Seriously lacking instruction
I wanted an IP camera that would detect motion and record video to my hard drive. I have no intention of paying a monthly fee to do something I can do for free. This was attractive for the price and that it is an outdoor device (cameras don't work through glass windows at night), and is wireless (except for power). I spent countless hours trying to get the image on my PC, only to find out it works only with (now obsolete) Microsoft Internet Explorer (it needs Active X). I did interface it with my Android phone with no difficulty. I have played with it to get motion detection and recording to my PC for many hours. The user guide does not even address these subjects. Support responds promptly but tells you nothing. They keep referring me to the mostly useless user guide and some YouTube videos that have very little to do with the whole thing. If Pan Tilt Zoom is important to you, it doesn't work usefully. The camera accommodates an SD memory card, but if you put the weatherproof cover back on, it extracts the SD card by pushing on it. If you think you can use this monstrosity the way I want to, go to their website and download the owner's guide to see for yourself. I am not a dummy, I have 6 PCs networked at home and have other cameras, including an indoor IP camera that works just fine. This camera looks good and the image is good. It might be adequate with the subscription model they want to sell you, and maybe the PTZ on my particular camera is defective and others work just fine, but in my experience, I saved money on a cheap camera and if I value my time at even $7.00/Hr., have spent it ten times over and am still not where I want to be. I think everyone would agree that a camera that won't stay where you aim it is worthless. This camera will suddenly move its "home" position for no reason. To top it off, the quality of the video is poor.

Potential to be great, but still limited
Bought these for security around the outside of the house. The directions for setting the. Up for wireless is vague, but not impossible. You have to carefully follow the steps. You still need to connect the power cord to these, so they are not fully "wireless". PROS: They work pretty much as described, with all functions working. HD quality is clear and very good, in color, and in infrared. Manual as well as automatic recording and motion tracking work well. The price is right for the quality you get. CONS: Time setting keeps changing by itself on all the cameras, no matter how many times you reset to sync with your phone time through your wireless router that should keep the time sync. Camera connection to the router must be done manually with a LAN cable the first time, instead of wirelessly after installing the camera. So you have to make sure to set up the camera manually with the LAN before installing it anywhere. Each time the camera needs to be reconnected to the network, say an upgraded router, you have to take the camera to the router to hook it up with a LAN cable to set it up. This is very frustrating, especially if you have to get out the ladder to remove the camera from the eves of your house, set it up, then reinstall it up the ladder again. This is also necessary when connecting to a router extender. Connections are sometimes lost for no apparent reason, and the camera then needs to be reset again. This involves either having to go into the settings and re-doing all your settings you have created, or having to do an entire reset/reconnection by removing the camera and taking it to the router again. In conclusion, these are a good buy, but I already had one fail within one year where it stopped moving and froze in one spot. These cameras have a great set of features that are on more expensive cameras, but a much more affordable price. Unfortunately, they may not outlast the more expensive cameras.

Install using “Method D” for. PERFECT EXPERIENCE.
This is an INCREDIBLE Camera and software viewing system, for my iPhone. Everything is fully integrated, intuitive, and works PERFECTLY, with razor sharp video, two way sound, etc. I bought two of these IP PTZ camera, tested them, and bought six more … and the quality is so high and the price so reasonable, I bought an additional two more “just in case”. (Spares). A LOT of thought went into the design and materials, and the free software “CamHiPro” available on the Apple APP STORE. How they make the TF Card slot truly and permanently waterproof was a joy to see. Make sure you use “Method D” to install each camera…. You just hook up the camera to the Ethernet port on your Wi-Fi Router, and follow the on screen prompts on your iPhone, using “CamHiPro”. Then, disconnect the Ethernet cord, and the camera is permanently configured. No need to scan the QR CODE decal on the camera, as “CamHiPro” will find the new camera, and allow you to select the new one from the list. Downside: The sheet of instructions is so small that 14 pages of step by step instructions are shown each about the size of a large postage stamp. I had to photograph the 14 pages and crop and scale them, so they would print 8-1/2”x11”, each page. Today my wife and I were across town at a restaurant, and I could on my iPhone see my dogs in the yard with razor sharp clarity, and hear them perfectly, and talk to them loud enough they could hear me across the yard, over the camera speaker. Night vision, in infrared, or color is GREAT! I have two in the house, as a two-way room monitor with video, with PTT microphone button on my iPhone, and continuous listen ability. The camera build quality, and everything about it is top, repeat TOP QUALITY. Even the power supply brick and cord are waterproof (for rain.). Use some “Shoe Goo” to seal where the brick plugs into an extension cord, and the unused prong receptacles, and you could bury the cord and brick. Wires last a LONG time sans UV sunlight.
