It just doesn't open enough for the stem of the drum.** A: On my grinder, the instructions didn't work. No matter how hard I tried to force the stem into the collet nut hole area, it wouldn't go in. If you still can't get the attachment to fit into the hole, do this...Remove the collet nut completely. Then pull out the copper-colored insert (this is what you are supposed to put the stem into). Now, force the stem into the hole to open it up a little. Then pull the stem back out and reassemble the insert and collet nut, but don't tighten it yet. Push the stem into the insert. Now it should fit without any problems. Finally, tighten up the collet nut.Rather than typing out the same instructions you get in the box, or telling you to call customer service, Dana should have just told you how she finally got it to work. **Q: Where can I get new replacement bands? Do I have to buy the whole 10 dollar kit each time I need new bands?** A: I'm not sure where to get them now, but years ago I bought about 50 from the company who made the original Peticure. (I bought so many because I wasn't sure if the company was going to go out of business before I really needed to buy more.) Of course, I had the Peticure grinder at the time, so where else was I supposed to go? Come to find out, they fit this Wahl grinder, too. The Drumel brand product did not work as the replacement files did not fit correctly onto the filing attachment. And forget their customer service as I requested assistance and received a Non-reply to my e-mail. Frustrated, unsure of what to get next, as I needed a product that would work longer than a month, I purchased a WHAL. Upon set-up, I had difficulty (set-up instructions are not very good, just call the provided customer service number, and they will get you set-up and running), so I needed to contact the listed customer service help number provided within the included instructional set-up literature within the carrying case. To my surprise, I was extremely pleased with my contact to their customer service. The woman went "above and beyond" to assure my complete satisfaction with set-up and use of the product; as well, she was amazingly helpful, kind, proficient and a willing customer service rep. Upon speaking to the rep and her willingness to assure my positive experience with set-up and use of my new WHAL, I will NOT USE ANY OTHER BRAND OFFERED AGAIN for trimming my dog's nails. Yes, their customer service is seriously that GREAT! In addition, after using the Wahl product for over a month, I have already used it often, on two dogs (my large German Shepherd, plus my small, Terrier mix); I must say, I have no complaints on the ease of use, the effectiveness or customer service that this product offers. Also, I like the rate of speed as it can be adjusted while trimming their nails to a speed that is slower or anywhere in-between to faster. My dogs are unable to tolerate the same speed, thus I have to adjust the speed for each. If I had actually read the directions first, I would have seen how to use the little wrench tool to tighten the sandpaper on by making an adjustment on top of the black wheel. Amazing how much better it works when I use it correctly. Overall, a very good tool. Pretty quiet.
