The Best By Far
SO, I have tried so many of the different oats out there, and this is the best by such a huge margin, that it is simply off the scale. The texture, chewiness, and sheer goodness puts it in my pantry from here on out. It is definitely worth a try, if you are looking for something better, as I was. I thought that the whole rolled oats were the best, but, pushing myself to try something that might be even better, I have found that the push was well worth it. There are literally hundreds of ways to prepare this, whether you're looking for a sweet or savory breakfast or snack. It is so delicious, no matter the way you choose to prepare it. Just do a search online for ideas. They are endless. Give this a try, and maybe it is just what you are looking for, too.

Excellent oats and here is a recipe for you!
Love, love, love this product. I make a slow cooker oatmeal with these steel cut oats that my husband and I eat 3 to 4 times a week for breakfast. These oats are healthy and so tasty. Anyone who hasn't tried steel cut oats before should. The taste difference between that "Quaker-like" quick and old fashioned oats compared to steel cut is remarkable. Soooo much better. For anyone who wants it, here is my recipe for slow cooker steel cut oatmeal: Slow Cooker Oats Ingredients: 1 cup steel cut oats 3 1/2 cups Almond Milk 1 cup peeled and chopped apple (optional, I don't use) 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, Pecans or almonds) 2 tablespoons butter, melted 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon 2 tablespoons brown sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Directions: 1. Spray the inside of your crock pot with PAM (this step is optional. I don't do it). Place the milk, cinnamon and brown sugar and whisk to blend. Add the apples (if desired), butter and nuts and whisk again. Finally add the steel cut oats and stir once more. Cover the cooker, set to Low. Approximate cooking time is 4 to 5 hours.

Back For More...
Steel Cut Oats are my favorite. I put 1/2 cup oats into the rice cooker along with 1-1/2 cup water (3:1 Ratio) and set the steam button for 10 minutes (I like mine chewy). If you want creamy oats cook for 20 minutes (directions on the back of the packet). Breakfast cooks while I do other things. When the rice cooker beeps, breakfast is ready. Brown Sugar, Butter and a splash of Cream is all that's needed for a delicious, sweet and creamy bowl of goodness. Goes well with fruit cooked with it (apples, dates, raisins, ect). A hot cup of tea and your Irish breakfast is served.

Love all of Bob's Red Mill Products
This product requires a little more cooking time but it is well worth it. I like the chewy texture when cooked and the price is much more reasonable than from my health food store. I use quite a few of Bob's Red Mill Products and have always found them to be of high quality. The packaging is great--protects the bags, colorful and interesting, and very easy to open and store.

I like it
I have always wanted to try Steel Cut Oats but with gluten concerns ... and my local health food store only carried the regular gluten free flat oats ... I ordered this on Amazon. I chose to buy in bulk to save money ... not always a good idea if I found I did not like it but ... I ordered anyway. I am still limiting the amount of grains in my diet due to thyroid issues ... concentrating on eating more vegetables and 2 oz. of meat/poultry/fish ... to loose weight ... but this is really good a few mornings a week. After cooking I add finely chopped apple & a sprinkle of cinnamon or a half cup of frozen blueberries and a small amount of homemade coconut milk and some drops of liquid stevia and I'm pleased with this product.

NOT INSTANT
Dont buy this thinking you can pop it in the microwave for a minute or two and its ready to eat. You have to cook this real good, about 20 minutes, make a batch, refrigerate and just reheat. The taste is very good as is the texture, no bloating or upset stomach, gluten free!

Best Healthy Breakfast, Dessert
Wow this stuff is great! I was previously using Glutenfreeda's instant oatmeal and loved it. I then purchased a Zojirushi rice maker and found out that I can cook steel cut oats in it. I bought these based off of the great reviews and WOW they taste amazing. They have a nutty flavor that instant oatmeal is missing. They are also better for you as they don't increase your blood sugar levels as much as regular oats. I've also started cooking these for a healthy dessert. I just add a 1/2 cup of almond milk to my batch, and then refrigerate when finish, and add truvia to my serving. It's almost like a rice pudding. This can often be found for less at your local shop, but I'm not going to punish the product review for that. Highly recommend... buy it!!

My favorite breakfast
If I were stranded on a desert island, I would want to have a trailer full of these oats, and peanut butter. My favorite breakfast is steel cut oats with peanut butter. I have been eating it every morning for months; it is a wonderful comfort food and a good way to start the day. I love buying the 4-pack so I know I won't run out, and of course the price is so much better than in brick-and-mortar stores. My secret for cooking these - and making cleanup easy - is to bring 4 cups of water to a boil, and add 1 cup of oats. Return to a boil for 30 seconds. (Make sure you pay attention so you don't have an Oatmeal Catastrophe to clean up later.) After 30 seconds, put a lid on the pot, shut if off, and remove it from the heat. Let it sit overnight on your stove top. In the morning - voila! - you've got cooked steel oats. Since they weren't boiled longer, there aren't any clumps of oats stuck to the bottom of the pot, so clean up is a cinch. I am the only person in the house who eats oatmeal, so I store cooked oats in the fridge and scoop out my breakfast portion each morning, microwave it, and then add a spoonful of peanut butter. It's wonderful.
