An Excellent Kindle Version of A Great Tragedy
Fist, as a product, this is excellent. I am completely satisfied with this Kindle version of this tragedy. I read along as I listened and then viewed various performances of “King Lear”.As a play, this is one of the essential Shakespeare tragedies. It is almost over the top in its misery. There are acts of unspeakable cruelty. As a student I am very glad to be able to study this and other Shakespeare plays. I have favorite Shakespeare actors rather than favorite Shakespeare plays. In the event that it matters I do have a LEAST FAVORITE Shakespeare play. That is “The Taming of The Shrew”. Except for study purposes I don’t care if I ever see that play. Kenneth Branagh is my favorite Shakespeare actor. Emma Thompson is my favorite Shakespeare actress. Thank You…

It's classic Shakespeare ...
Revisiting books and plays I read in high school and wanted to see how I feel about King Lear. He's befuddled and unfortunately an old fool in his old age....I see a lot of Trump, in King Lear. We as a country should think about how we elect our leaders to represent us...the foolery that happened on January 6th of this year, should really make you ponder HOW was this allowed to happen? People died as a result of this insurrection and I want to do my part in VOTING out those who stood complicit and did nothing to stop it. There was no cheating on Biden's part in his winning the Presidential Election of 2020....but we all know who will lie, cheat and steal to get his way....so sad! Time is on our side and JUSTICE MUST PREVAIL!

Of course the Shakespeare is great
I only wonder why the editor introduces his work with an insult to Mark Twain and other less dead writers for exploring the evidence that Shakespeare may hove been a pen name. That doesn't make us necessarily "snobs" anymore than the Wizard of Oz's diploma made the Scarecrow wise. It just means we've been restless a while in the pews.

Book was printed in poor condition
Book came in good time, however the pages were torn and folded in middle of book. I have used Pelican books before and they generally do a good job. Just hate paying for products that are damaged.

Scofield's wonderful Lear is stunning!
This production is without doubt one of the best audio productions of Shakespeare! Scofield is simply perfect!!

The best kind of used book is...
One with history. There are two different characters hand written around the book, one on the preface and one commenting in pencil along most of the story - a treat! I feel like Harry Potter, with the potions book with notes from the Half Blood Prince inside. I'm studying the book for English and having these extra notes is great :) so thank you whoever you are! The book came very quickly to. Great service, would buy again.
