They treat it like a human and give it absolute authority in the house. Not my dog so whatever not my problem. HOWEVER, when said dog decides to park itself at my room and snap at me when I try to walk past it, it becomes my problem. So I buy this in hopes of dealing with the problem.When it happened again, I lightly pressed the trigger to spray a test spritz into the air and then I waited. The dog didn't react immediately but after 3 minutes it seemed irritated. Seeing a result, I sprayed HARD into the carpet (Never spray on the dog!) fully pressing down on the trigger twice. The dog hates the scent and leaves. IT WORKED! In the past the dog would and could sit there for HOURS blocking me in or out and I just had to deal with it so this was a fantastic purchase.With time the dog learned to respect me and my space and I learned to love the dog. And I'd like to think a good portion of that mutual respect came from using this product to teach boundaries.P.S.
