A very nicely finished product overall, although I have reservations over how the buttons are sewn directly onto the leather without any small anchoring buttons sewn on the reverse or lining. This could lead to the buttons tearing free from the leather with wear that might otherwise have been avoided. Let's hope not.The jacket comes in an authentic grey goatskin leather, as per the originals. The grey has a bluish tinge (ocean grey), again authentic. Goat leather is used for its greater water resistancy than cowhide. The US Navy still uses goat leather for its jackets, just like the Kreigsmarine back in the day, for this reason. The jacket is heavy and promises durability.Epic Militaria advise ordering next size up from that expected as the jackets are snug. Good advice. I am 5'11", 121/2 stone with a 42" chest. Following their advice I ordered XL (43-44" chest). Jacket fits comfortably with heavy sweater under it, but my accustomed L would have been too small.I phoned Epic before ordering and they helpfully gave me all the jackets measurements. Very helpful people, highly recommended.I'm very pleased with this product and with its wool lining and quilted inner sleeves with inner cuffs to protect from the elements, it would be hard to find a more authentic replica of the Kreigsmarine U-Boot leather deck coat. There are many imitations out there and variations on the theme but this looks and feels like the real thing to me.My daughter is threatening to dowse me with water unexpectedly whilst shouting 'alarm!'Recommended.
