Soft, clean... Needle-felters need to know...
I am a needle-felter with several years of experience and have purchased many supplies from Desert Breeze. I find their products to be very high quality and the wool is cleaner than most. I usually buy their Maori wool blend roving for my work, but I needed a very specific color which I found in this Merino (Ivy Green). Now Merino is not the best for needle-felting as the fibers are long and straight an don't intertwine as easily as say a Corriedale or the Maori. However, a few years ago, I met a fiber artist at the Rhinebeck NY Sheep & Wool Festival who said that Merino is great for wet-felting, but not so good for needle-felting. He suggested that if I wanted to try dampening the Merino and letting it air dry, that it would kink up a little and maybe it would felt more easily. Well, this made all the difference. Now if I can find the color I need only in Merino, I will buy it and then pull whisps of fibers out and spritz them with a water, and let them sit overnight to dry. It makes all the difference in the world! (see before & after photo) So for those who have been frustrated by having to poke your project a million times to get it to felt, take heart, there's a solution! I hope someone finds this helpful. BTW, this wetting process also works, though not quite as well, with Desert Breeze Tibetan Yak hair roving which is unbelievably soft. Happy felting to all!

Great quality, and perfect color
I have Giesswein wool slippers that developed some small holes from moths. They are a boiled felted wool, and a purple/raspberry color. This wool is a near perfect match! I used it to needle felt the slippers and patch the holes. It was my first needle felting experience. It was super easy. I'm familiar with wool, I'm a knitter. The quality and color was fantastic. I wasn't sure how much I needed, but there's a surprisingly amount of wool in the package, and I barely made a dent in it!
