There are eight different modes from continual to different flashing sequences. They come with instructions which are easy to follow. They were not too difficult to install as I already had a curtain rail on which the curtain hooks had small rings below them suitable for hooking on the lights. I removed the net curtain as having put the lights behind it I would have had to keep the nets closed, but it would have been possible to have both at the window.
