Admiralty Code, Admiralty Code, Who's Got the Admiralty Code?
The Mental Model induced crackup of the Fleet of Fog continues, if anything at a faster pace than before, now that the long lost (since 1945) Admiralty Code has reappeared in Arpeggio of Blue Steel Vol. 5 in order to forcibly prevent Haruna from destroying decentralized Japan's three capitals, using heavy cruiser Maya's weaponry, in her berserker rage at the death of Professor Osakabe during the army's assault on his mansion.Super battleships Musashi and Yamato are pursuing separate secret schemes involving the Chihayas, Shouzou and Gunzou respectively, that run counter to each other; Kongou and Nagato, infuriated (OK, Nagato is more bemused than infuriated) at being left out of the loop by Yamato, have opened a hole in their blockade in order to provoke a response from Shouzou by allowing the Japanese army to attack the 401's home base on Iwo Jima; Shouzou is ignoring this (and apparently ignoring the fate of his own son) while he works out a treaty between Great Britain and his splinter Scarlet Fleet of Fog and pledges to end the war in Europe, which will make it easier for him to track down the newly reappeared Admiralty Code (apparently with the help of large battleship Bismarck, the last to see the Admiralty Code); Shouzou's minion, Zordan Stark, and U-2501 are stalking rogue tsundere heavy cruiser Takao; and Haruna and Kirishima are preparing to meet with someone from Japan's Northern Region, presumably about the Design Child, Makie. Most of the book details the Battle of Iwo Jima and our heroes' response to the Japanese Army's intentions to seize the 401...and murder its crew. The splintering continues in Arpeggio of Blue Steel Vol. 7 .
