Whoa What a Full Sounding Bookshelf Speaker Should Sound Like
Granted, I just received these speakers today. They produce A truly fantastic sound for Bookshelf Speakers (Flaunce calls them Surround Sound Book Shelf Speakers ). I hooked them up on my Basement stereo to play music only in order to play my drums together with My Favorite Tunes. I have a Boytone Mini Multi-Player which is hooked up via the headphone jack (there are no Outputs on the Boytone) into the Pyle Amp's Audio In jack with the appropriate cord. I could only imagine the TRUE sound of these speakers hooked to a real quality Receiver / AMP . The sound is Clean , Good Umph , and very good middle range delivery. The One Beauty of the Boytone is that it contains a record player, cassette deck, CD player, and a USB to play media files from a Flash drive and BT on top of it all. It is not a high quality unit by any means, but it does lost of things. You can directly record records, cassettes and CDs directly to the Flash Drive (although I have not really done that except to experiment). Enough about Boytone. I have never heard of Fluance, but did my research after learning about these wonderful speakers on Amazon. I also Ordered a Pair of Sony SS-CS5s. They are sound very good as well, but the Fluance I think is the winner. The Sonys will be going back. Yes, the Sonys are a few Bucks cheaper than Fluance, but these Fluance speakers just Sing, at least to my old ears (68). Both came in Quality packaging , but Fluance wins there too. Very well built and can be Wall Mounted. Others have said elsewhere for other Speaker review comments, that Speakers need to be Broken In. I never heard that before about stereo speakers (I own JBL 100s [over 40 years old and still going], beautiful KEFs 103s for over 33 years and still going strong - what a sound they produce ). So if that is the case that Speakers only get better after "Breaking In". thenWOW I am really in for musical Treat.

astonishingly good for the price
Using these in a L/R 2-speaker setup with an Onkyo all digital receiver, running both CDs and Technics SL-B300 turntable through stock preamp (which is a little unfair). For the price, and considering the sound quality I've got coming out of these, they are unbeatable! Incredible sound reproduction from both digital and vinyl sources. I've run them at ear-bleeding power levels and they don't seem to distort whatsoever, but I'm a little conservative: at that volume, though, they sound clear as a bell and with excellent spectrum. I seldom run them at more than comfortable ambient room levels. I'm probably not "stretching" them with my usual habits. Break-in seems to be on par with what the manual describes. After re-listening to the same album ~5-6 times over the past 3 weeks of use, I'd tentatively claim that they sound better now, but I'm far from an audiophile. Build quality feels excellent. Solidly packed and shipped. Manuals and included materials are clear, nicely printed, and well done. Feels very much like a "pro"-level speaker system. I would 100% buy Fluance again. I would 100% recommend these to anyone who doesn't want to go broke, but wants a no-nonsense awesome soundscape without being pretentious. Bottom line: awesome choice for speakers, fantastic value:price:performance ratios.

Hated them for the first 10 minutes.
These needed a short break in and some adjustment. I had some 14 gauge cable to start because my order for 12 gauge cable had not arrived yet. After I upgraded my DAC and cables these speakers came to life. Very nice sound detail I’m using them with a vintage Marantz receiver and they sound very good. Vinyl sounds rich and full when paired with an ART DJ Pre II preamp. They have descent bass but this is in my home office and I really don’t need that much bass right now. Plus you aren’t going to get much bass from a 5.25 woofer anyway. I think the bass is adequate. Thinking about a subwoofer later on. Very happy with this purchase and these speaker punch way above their price range. Especially when you look at the build quality and the styling. It’s hard to believe that these are 200 bucks. They fill the room with sound, have very nice clean sound detail and have a nice big sweet spot. The sound stage is excellent considering the price. Unless you are a snobby "audiophile" you will love these. I replaced $300 older speakers with these and I’m happy I did. Just get them before the prices go up. Update 11/1/2022: Added a small 8" subwoofer and WOW! I have pair of Definitive Technology speakers ($799.99ea.) in my main room and I swear these sound almost as good as the much more expensive ones, now that I have everything dialed in. Granted this is a much smaller room and I don't blast them. I can't imagine any speakers even at twice the price could sound better (maybe 3x as much would) needless to say I'm happy with this setup. I used to hate streaming music to my Airport Express but adding the DAC and these speakers with a budget sub have changed my mind. I'm listening to music much more now. I'm still a Vinyl lover though.

WOW!
I'm truly amazed at how these sound. The little bit of bass they have is so cool. I'm not an audiophile. I love the sound on these, but then again, anything I bought I probably would have been wowed by. The sound they produce just feels so much warmer. I really don't know how else to explain how they sound to me. I'm just glad I found some great bookshelf speakers at a really reasonable price. The speakers it replaced were from a set I bought over 10 years ago called Klipsch Quintet III. they have served me well, but the left and right channel started sounding really off. I researched a lot of options and, ultimately, went with these. A huge thank you to Z reviews as that helped the decision making easier. If you don't know who that is, look him up because his reviews, especially the sound demo reviews, really help! That being said, I think for $150 or less, these are the go to speakers. If they are at $200, I would wait for them to drop in price or go with something else. I didn't want to spend another $50+ on something else knowing that I will be replacing these with floorstanding speakers and moving these to the surround speakers in about a year or two. I might actually buy their floorstanding speakers as I really like the design. I wasn't sure on that mustard color without the grill, but I really like it.

These are good for the price
The past year or so I’ve been in the market for a new set of bookshelf speakers to use as my desktop monitors. I’m a Klipsch guy at heart and I’ve been searching for a pair of Heresy’s (currently have a pair La Scala’s as my mains in my living room, RB-81ii’ as surronds, the full RP-280F setup in my master bedrrom, RF-52’s in the garage, and had Cornwalls and Forte’s). Reality kicked in and I knew that the Heresy’s were just too big for my room and desk. So I decided to go for something smaller. I looked at the Sixes and the RP-160M’s. They were and still are getting rave reviews, but at close to $500 the RP’s and $800 for the Sixes (better prices on Ebay), it was a little out of reach at the moment, especially when holidays are right around the corner (it’s on my Christmas wish list: fingers crossed!). Out of the blue, after searching for affordable, budget minded bookshelves, I ran across Fluance, Elac, Pioneer’s Andrew Jones lineup, etc… The Fluance Signature Series piqued my interest, not only because of the great reviews it was getting, but because aesthetically, they look great! I finally came upon an open box set on Amazon for $149 shipped through Prime. What the hell right? What have I got to lose, if I don’t like them, I can always throw them in the garage or in the kitchen. When the package finally arrived, it was packed very well, double-boxed. No visible damage to the box itself, which was very surprising coming from UPS. Pulled the bookshelves out and they look great! Even better in person, especially with the grills off! That front glossy panel and the brushed aluminum tweeter housing and that yellow midrange, nice! Aesthetically, Fluance knocked it out of the ball park. The enclosure itself though left a little to be desired. Don’t quote me on this, but it feels like the cabinet was made out of 5/8” mdf. It just feels way too light for its size. I finally placed it on my desk, toed in towards the MLP and hooked it up to a Marantz NR1403 receiver. Fired up a few tracks I was familiar with, and the midrange immediately stood out. It was a little too hot, to the point where it sounded muffled, muddy and peaky; no matter the music choice, the midrange just didn’t sound right. Perhaps, it was because the cabinet didn’t have enough internal bracing and or the material used were not thick enough to help control the woofer. Either way, it’s very noticeable. The tweeter though, it’s nice; it’s smooth, laid back and somewhat airy. Turning the volume up, the tweeter shone right through, no harshness or peaks that I can tell. It’s just a very nice sound coming from the tweeter. It’s almost comparable to my car audio setup, which consists of a pair of Seas Lotus RT25A tweeters. Smooth, clean and airy. However, I knew I had to fix the midrange, so I opened up the EQ in Winamp and tweaked it a bit, ended up cutting a few db’s at 180hz, 320hz and 600hz. Everything else was left flat, and let me just say, after tweaking it, the midrange is now smoother. The muddiness and peaks disappeared and is now in tune with the tweeter, just an overall nice sound. Imaging on these are also very nice. For nearfield listening, these are pretty good! The vocals sound like it’s coming from dead center, right in front of you! Some tracks, the bookshelves themselves seem to disappear and the music seems like it’s coming at you, from behind the monitor. These don’t have much bass, but that’s what subwoofers are for. For $150, I don’t think these Fluance’s can be beat. All tracks played were .flac’s through Winamp, with a variety of music; rap, rock, pop, trance.

You will not find a more detailed sound at this price point.
Unbelievable detail and balance. These bookshelf speakers are as linear as you can get. They really come alive with a bit of volume. There's a fine line between needing power for these and exceeding the max excursion of the mid-driver. If you enjoy your music a bit louder, than I recommend a sub and pull back the bass from these. At lower listening volumes, a sub is not needed. Keep in mind these speaks need a break in period. When it comes to clarity, soundstage, detail, and distortion . These have the total package. They're also front ported so you can push them back against the wall if you have a smaller listening room like I do. They do very well with dialog so you don't need a center channel for movies.

It's not them, it's you.
Check your receiver settings first!! These speakers are amazing but you need to make sure you are giving them the proper input. I struggled the first few days to get the sound out of these. Bass was and will always be non existent with these speakers alone. But I added 2 subwoofers creating a 2.2 setup. The sound still wasn't there. The speakers were unbalanced and fatiguing. But I was lucky enough to have an epiphany. I have an Onkyo TX-SR608 with Auddysey. The last speakers I was running were small Boston Acoustics and the Auddysey was over compensating the vocals. I ran the setup with these and it was life changing. All the pieces fell into place. These speakers are amazing. The sound is beautiful. The conjunction with the subwoofers gives a powerful, crisp, detailed music experience. I bought the matching Fluance center channel speaker. Listened to music in a 3.2 setup. Absolutely incredible. I watch movies in 5.2 but the surround are not Fluance. Still amazing. I will replace the surrounds with Fluance Signature very soon.

Altavoces HiFi cuyo sonido no te dejará indiferente.

Excellent all around, but needs a subwoofer
TL;DR: Overall, excellent speakers. I use them as my front speakers (even though it's meant to be used as a surround speaker with its two front vent ports). As near-field speakers, they are excellent out the box. However, midrange gets drown out as you move away from the speakers, so you'll want to tone the upper treble down. Room acoustic becomes more important as you move father, since sound waves are crashing/reinforcing more before reaching your ears. More info: I'd like to think that I have critical listening skills: I used the SineGen to sweep through the frequencies and find that the response to be nearly flat when positioned 1-1.5m from myself. There's a roll off in low frequency around 80hz and below, which is important to get the punchy sounds, so you'll need to invest in a subwoofer. There are no dips or peaks in FR as far as I can tell. I find that as you put the speakers farther away (maybe around 6-8 feet), the mids get drown out and things start to sound more sibilant. I'd recommend lowering the treble down maybe 2db on your receiver if possible. If not, you might want to experiment toe-ing the speakers. Imaging is superb; the tweeter frequency response was the same on both speakers unlike my Bose 301 V series (whose tweeters didn't match each other, which messes up the placement of sound).

From a metalheads point of view
The only thing that I didn’t like was that it didn’t give off the bass I was hoping for which I decided to get a subwoofer to go with and now all it right in my world. These speakers sound really good when used with a sub. By themselves heavy music is muddled. The speakers can’t handle double kickers. Megadeth is a challenge for them (by themselves). Old rock is fine, they sound nice and clear. I’m sure country would be fine. I did try some Public Enemy and Cypress Hill and I thought it was fine (until I got the sub). Heavy Metal tho? They didn’t do it for me and I was so sad because the build quality is amazing. The grills are magnetic, I have never seen that before. They look really good too. For the price they really look like speakers double the price. So by themselves if I was stuck and wasn’t able to get the sub, I’d be disappointed. My opinion as a metalhead. I bought a sub and that fixed my issue that I had with these speakers. They sound way better with a subwoofer. Totally different speaker now. Very clear. I can hear all instruments, the sound is very top notch. I can enjoy any metal album I put on. The older stuff sounds awesome. Pink Floyd sounds amazing with this setup. Pink Floyd, Nazareth, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Prodigy, AC/DC, Metallica, Lamb of God, Six Feet Under, Cradle of Filth. These are examples of what I listen to on the regular. I don’t consider myself an audiophile, I just know how music is supposed to sound and I needed to invest in a subwoofer to get the listening experience that I was searching for. I hope this helps other rockers shopping for speakers.

Awesome value, great sound
These sounded much better than I expected, coming from a pair that was twice the price, these can nearly hold their own against them. The bass is good for a bookshelf, and the clarity and soundstage are fantastic. Given the price, these are a fantastic value. My only issue is the circuit board inside the one speaker must not have been glued well, or was thrown around enough in shipping that it came loose - so the one speaker has a loose board running around inside. Not a huge deal for speakers that won't be moving around much, and there's no effect on the sound (I tested and tested this) - so it's a minor thing for me. I plan to just re-glue it myself at some point..
