I also read that at book 20 the children are small again all of a sudden, even though they had been gradually ageing during the first 19 books. Well, that was true. They got small again. I just explained to my kids that people liked the series so much that they continued writing more books, but made the kids younger again. My son nodded and said - "yes, if they hadn't the grandfather would have grown so old he would have had to die." So to him it made good sense. I have read books 20 - 22 now and I must say they are just as good as the first 19. All simple, short and relaxing bedtime stories that can be read in one or two sittings, with characters that are well-behaved and not snarky and cheeky or wise beyond their age...yet also adventurous and quite independent. As you will see from other reviewers too, even though this is a rather old series of books, somehow they strike the right chord with kids (and parents)! I remember them to be of respectable content for children. I started to get the boxcar children books for my 9 year old, who can read an entire book in one sitting.
