Can this be used on a system that may already have Fernox inhibitor in it? That is can you have too much of this stuff in your central heating system?

Hi, I am not a plumber however I perform the 'easier' tasks myself such as new rad. taps etc which involves draining the system. I always add Fernox as draining involves filling with fresh water which is corrosive without an additive! Should you have had Fernox in your system for 1year and NEVER drained or bled your rads, then unless you have had to restore pressure by opening the fresh water taps (in a combi system) , you won't have diluted last year's Fernox as no 'new' water will have been added!! OK so far....?! . Thus I guess it's technically possible to 'overdose' your system however I reckon the efficacy will always reduce over time so adding the correct dose (re dosing) after 1 year for the number of rads you have, would not do too much harm. Should you have added fresh water over the year because of bleeding or low pressure, then clearly you will have diluted what Fernox was in your system. Therefore you will need more Fetnox in the system to bring it up to strength. If you are really concerned, there's a Fernox test kit comprising test strips to dip in your heating water, which change colour depending on strength. It's about £35.00! More expense! Sorry for the protracted reply and good luck!
