Easy to setup just needed a couple of cables with right connections. Just beware not to overload as there is no circuit breaker. If pushed it will die. However APC tech support are brilliant.

On this particular model the batteries are laying on their side, so it's important that the batteries are capable & genuine. The batteries started leaking after just over 2 years of use, filling my house with toxic fumes. Upon opening the unit I was shocked to find that APC had used non-genuine Chinese batteries! I contacted APC support to enquire why they had used non-genuine batteries that they themselves do not recommend & they couldn't give me a straight answer. It's incomprehensible that APC insist on users using only genuine (and expensive) battery replacements when they don't even install genuine batteries on brand new units themselves. I won't use APC again.

had the units 3 years before the batteries died took apart to replace to battery to find the "original" battery was a cheap chinese battery and not an official APC battery, was this unit a return to amazon after someone had switched the batteries out

When the unit gets close to the fan temperature, it will on and off the fan repeatedly in the space of 2 seconds which is incredibly annoying on a warm day. It wouldn't have broke the bank for the fan to have been voltage, or PWM controlled, but no, this is on/off on *exactly* the same temperature (instead of on at 25C and off at 19C like any normal designer would have implemented). Nope these guys have to be extra special and turned their design skills up to 9000 for the most annoying temperature controlled fan ever. Other than that it seems to work ok.

as the title says, I bought some of these back in 2022 and the first one failed just after 2 years in 2024 so I thought it was just bad luck so I replaced it. Now I have 5. Two don't power on at all after being plugged in for hours. Two power on and look like they're working but with a 100W incandescent bulb plugged in as a test load, these two quit supplying power within 2 seconds of the input power being turned off. The other one is relatively new so still works but I don't consider a UPS to be a consumable item and now I can't trust them to be working when I do have a power cut and a server needs protecting

Whilst it provides the advertised UPS capability, there are snags. Purchased in the UK it does not come equipped with a UK style power lead. You'll either need to have a spare or you'll need to make an additional purchase. Not a lot of extra money, but avoidable by the manufacturer/vendor. Build quality is not spectacular, essentially moulded plastic throughout, very much a consumer than office quality build. Packaging was generally good enough for transit. The Gel Lead Acid batteries in these devices are generally good for 18 month - 2 years, depending on how frequently the batteries are called on to supply backup power and also the ambient temperature where the device operates. So I was disappointed to discover that this UPS is not designed for user replacement of the internal batteries. You can buy replacement batteries, but it will be quite a fiddly process to DIY. The manufacturer recommends return of manufacturer/technician for replacement. This is a purchase factor and this requirement to RTB for battery replacement should have been mentioned. The cost of shipping, labour and approved parts will exceed the cost of buying a replacement item. Effectively yet another piece of equipment with built-in obsolescence. So in this respect it is not value for money. The user manual was poor, and does not clearly describe the set up process. it is printed in tiny font which makes it difficult to read.

I've wanted a UPS like, forever. Where I now live, power glitches are fairly common. One per month, at least. Only half a second or so, but usually enough to trip the PC into shutdown. APC was always the only UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) brand to consider. I finally took the plunge. It works. BUT. There is no front panel display, unlike an alternative respected brand (known for electronics, not UPS) at a cheaper price that has an LED front panel that tells you everything. I only found that listing AFTER this APC unit had been delivered. Worst of all, is the software. NOT included, and out of date, and not even downloadable unless you are prepared to sell your soul. That's why this only gets 2 stars. I'd give it one, but I believe APC is still a good UPS manufacturer. Their current owner just treats their customers badly. The manual tells you to download Powerchute Personal edition, to get windows functionality and things like a graceful shutdown if the power goes out and the battery is running out. After being endlessly redirected around the Schneider Electric website, I eventually found a page that stated the Powerchute Personal software had been retired as of Dec 2024 - 6 months ago. Great, my "new" UPS is thus AT LEAST 6 months old then. It was being replaced by Powerchute Serial Shutdown. Found my way to the download page for that. "This is for business users only" was the next obstacle. Wow. Sooooo helpful. Wish they had stated that ON THE SALE PAGE on Amazon. Deliberately omitting important information? Do not support a company that does this... There was a TINY popup window that offered "Is this for a home? Click here." Followed that. But good luck if you had missed the microprint that gave you that option. But oh no, before I'm allowed to download anything, I first have to register, and share all my personal data. To yet another web-insecure platform, that is bound to get hacked and my data stolen. Why do you need this? What are you going to do with the information? I'm not likely to be buying any other products. A UPS is a "buy once, forget for 5 to 10 years..." So no thanks, I will forego your software, and miss out on the pleasure of managing my APC unit because of your overly intrusive demands. I now wish I had returned the unit, and bought the competitor instead. I suggest you try that. 6 months ago I bought portable battery storage from that competitor, in time for a storm power outage that lasted 9 days. It worked beautifully. So I have no hesitation in saying avoid APC - there are better products out there, WITHOUT the price premium of the "traditional" name. This has been an extremely disappointing experience from what used to be (for DECADES) the world leader in UPS tech. Possibly it still is. But by being so secretive and jealously guarding software (since including software with the hardware is no longer a thing) I cannot recommend anyone buys APC, nor indeed any Schneider brand.

Utilisé pour onduler deux machines : mon PC, à base de Ryzen 9 5950X et GTX 1080Ti (pour le moment), et mon serveur (Xenon E5 2620). Il supporte les deux en fonctionnement simultané, même en jeu sur mon PC, sans alarme. Ce ne sera peut-être plus la même le jour où je changerai de GPU mais pour le moment, il fait le job ! Si l'onduleur est relié au PC via l'USB, une application est disponible pour affiner la sensibilité, jeter un oeil sur les caractéristiques en temps réel (puissance soutirée, consommation sur une période). Après plusieurs mois d'utilisation, je suis en tout cas content de mon achat !

Recensisco il BackUPS BX1600Mi. Vale sempre quel detto che chi più spende meno spende. In seguito all'aggiornamento del mio PC composto ora da un Seasonic GX-850 che deve alimentare un i7 12700 + una Zotac RTX 3080, ho dovuto sostituire il mio precedente UPS perchè necessitavo di maggiore potenza. Il precedente quando ero in gaming suonava perchè si superavano i 430W di assorbimento e non era più evidentemente in grado di sostenere il tutto. Mi ero imbattuto in un UPS di produzione italiana che molti adocchiano per la caratteristica dell'onda sinusoidale pura che su altri UPS compresi gli APC si paga a caro prezzo e che va più daccordo con gli attuali alimentatori per PC con PFC attivo mentre questo UPS di produzione italiana invece viene venduto a 169 euro. Tuttavia le recensioni non erano positive perchè quasi tutti lamentano ronzio durante il funzionamento e la ventolina di raffreddamento sempre attiva nel momento in cui l'UPS viene semplicemente collegato alla rete elettrica anche senza passargli alcun carico. Rumorosità tale da suggerire addirittura di chiuderlo in uno stanzino o comunque lontano dalla postazione di lavoro e non certamente in una camera da letto. Tutto ciò è stato sufficiente a desistere in modo definitivo dall'acquisto. Così decido per un "compromesso" e cioè questo APC BackUPS da 1600VA/900W con onda sinusoidale approssimata a gradini. La condizione dell'onda sinusoidale approssimata a gradini è accettabile e non crea problemi qualora utilizziamo un UPS di una certra qualità come APC collegato ad un alimentatore di buona fattura come lo è certamente il mio Seasonic e questo sarà in grado di "tollerare" un'onda approssimata nel momento in cui entrerà in batteria evitando che l'alimentatore generi ronzii o rumori preoccupanti che in caso di scarsa qualità del prodotto saranno indice di danneggiamento imminente. Ho ritenuto APC una garanzia e il mio alimentatore all'altezza di assorbire bene in caso di necessità quel minuto/due di batteria qualora servisse arrestare il sistema in caso di black out. Tutto questo dopo essermi documentato in rete sulla possibilità di affiancare un UPS con onda approssimata ad un alimentatore con PFC attivo (cosa che normalmente non sarebbe possibile o che potenzialmente può generare problemi da parte dell'alimentatore). Se uno di questi due componenti è di scarsa qualità chiaramente ci saranno problemi. Gli UPS con onda sinusoidale pura in uscita sono chiaramente i più validi ma lo devono essere su tutti i fronti e ovviamente questo ha dei costi. Per cui su un UPS da 169 euro che pubblicizza onda sinuosidale pura quando un UPS di livello con questa caratteristica comincia a costare da 400 euro a salire, da qualche altra parte deve "recuperare" e un UPS che ronza continuamente a cui si aggiunge anche il fastidio di una ventola costantemente in funzione per me non è accettabile ed è indice che si è andati al risparmio su altro. Il modello APC BackUPS da me acquistato inutile dire che nonostante la presenza di una ventolina posteriore, non emette alcun tipo di rumore. Opera in ASSOLUTO SILENZIO. E così si comportava anche il precedente. Ho provato a scollegarlo dalla rete elettrica e fa il suo dovere. Dall'alimentatore non si sente provenire nessun rumore strano o ronzio. Il funzionamento in batteria è efficiente e a me servono uno o due minuti massimo in caso di blackout per salvare eventuali lavori e chiudere tutto o demandare direttamente al software questo compito per cui non mi serviva particolare autonomia, ho puntato di più sul fattore potenza in Watt perchè è il problema per cui ho dovuto sostituire il precedente in quanto in determinati frangenti (gaming e rendering video) il sistema superava 430W di assorbimento ed il software bloccava tutto perchè l'UPS suonava e avevo l'alert di capacità di assorbimento superata. Decidendo di ignorare l'avvertimento ovviamente non appena c'era un calo, uno sbalzo o un'assenza totale di tensione, si spegneva tutto. Per cui se avete un alimentatore di livello e sicuramente con PFC attivo, e volete puntare ad un UPS con onda approssimata anziche con sinuoside pura, questo è possibile ma entrambi gli apparecchi (UPS e alimentatore) devono essere di buona qualità. In caso contrario un UPS scarso con sinuoside approssimata, farà danni anche su un alimentatore di buon livello oppure non funzionerà proprio nel momento in cui ci sarà assenza di tensione e tutto andrà giù. La rumorosità riportata e sottolineata in particolar modo su altri UPS con sinuoside pura a buon prezzo non è per me un compromesso accettabile dovendo collocare l'UPS poco distante dalla mia postazione. Pertanto mi affido ad una azienda che da anni è sinonimo di garanzia sui gruppi di continuità avendo inoltre già fatto lo stesso sull'alimentatore del PC con una scelta Top che mi fa stare tranquillo con il giusto "compromesso". Per cui la sinuoside pura nel mio caso non è elemento indispensabile ed imprescindibile. Voglio spezzare una lancia in favore di Amazon perchè leggo spesso accusare in modo superficiale ed inconsapevole Amazon di "truffa" perchè sugli UPS qualora abbiate dei problemi, è l'unico caso in cui la spedizione è inizialmente a vostre spese e non ci sarà il ticket prepagato. Quello che vi sto riportando è frutto di una esperienza personale. Anche a me si è reso necessario fare un reso di un UPS per una sostituzione. Nel momento in cui effettuate la spedizione Amazon richiede la scansione della ricevuta e rimoborsa seduta stante l'importo pagato. Capisco che può effettivamente trarre in inganno la mail automatica che vi arriva nel momento in cui viene accettato il reso in cui in asterisco si riporta che Amazon rimborsa fino a 4 euro le spese di spedizione (magari andrebbe rimossa), ma basta contattare il customer care per avere rassicurazione sul fatto che il rimborso della spesa sostenuta per rispedire il prodotto avverrà in modo totale ed immediato non appena inviate la ricevuta all'indirizzo email che vi viene indicato. E difatti nel mio caso è stato così. Per cui ciò che qualcuno "strilla" addirittura nelle stesse recensioni accusando Amazon di truffa relativamente a questa particolare situazione è ovviamente puerile ed assolutamente inesatto. Detto ciò, se volete un UPS di ottima fattura e rimanere in cifre accessibili per proteggere sistemi "consumer", APC è da sempre una garanzia. La sinuoside pura non è una scelta obbligata se avete opzionato un gruppo di continuità come APC e avete acquistato per il vostro PC un buon alimentatore come lo è il mio di Seasonic.
