This thing fits right in the soundhole. It sounds really good in my church. It’s a big room, and I pipe it right into the board and mix it via the board. No pre-amp needed. You need to boost the gain a bit to get it to open up, but it sounds great. We also have a loud stage, so the sound hole plug is essential. Again, works great. My guitars don’t feed back and scream at all. Review: Does the job but a couple of small issues. - I got this for my Gibson acoustic SJ 6 string. To install it all the strings had to be loosened all the way. Not a big deal. No volume dial/knob for fine tweaking. Not a big deal. There is a rubber ring you can remove just under the top, supposedly it’s to adjust for different size sound holes. I removed it carefully and slowly and it still snapped, so if I had needed that for a good fit it was busted. Too flimsy. Luckily, once it was removed the fit was ok. They should make the ring soft wide foam so it’ll fit every time the first time. My pick guard comes to within a 6th of an inch of the sound hole and the pickup sits on that tiny lip and was loose so some tweaking was needed for it to sit flat and snug. I’d strongly recommended using the built in slot for the cable. Lastly, there is a noticeable hiss/buzz during use. I had to tweak my amp just right so it’s barely noticeable. Maybe a noise suppressor would do the trick. Also, there is no noise. Real good reproduction of the entire sound spectrum of the guitar. You could go for this without a second thought. Also, the resonance is amazing. **Q: Will this work with Epiphone DR-100?** A: The unit is 4 inches in diameter where it slips into the guitar sound hole with a slightly larger lip to prevent it from falling completely into the body. If the opening on your Epiphone is 4 inches, give or take 1/8 of an inch it should fit without any issues. Works well on my Martin. **Q: Does this work with nylon strings?** A: No, you need a piezo style pickup. This particular pickup also would not fit the mounting hole in any of my acoustic guitars. **Q: Does installation require removing the strings? How does it stay in the sound hole?** A: I was able to install mine without removing the strings, but I had to use a dremel tool and grind off rubber all the way around the outer edge, quite a bit in order to get it to fit into the sound hole. I returned it and decided to try a Fishman single coil pickup. It fit,snugly,and to my surprise it sounds great. The buzz or feedback in the signal was minimal and makes me wonder if the Fishman humbucker would have been the better choice.
