Slow filtering process but with amazing results...
This filter is very slow, yet I give it a 5 star review because it does produce the best water I have ever tasted, and we couldn't be happier with our purchase. (Common sense tells me that the slower the filtering process the better water quality one gets). We live in the country and have a deep well for water supply. We have used all kinds of pitcher and faucet filters in the past, but non of them come even close to AquaRain. It is easy to assemble, seems very sturdy and it looks sharp in our kitchen. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

There are lots of things to love about the Aqua Rain system
There are lots of things to love about the Aqua Rain system. First of all, it was packaged incredibly well and arrived in pristine condition. Not everything I order is packaged with such care, and I was pleased that this package was. Secondly, installation and setup were a breeze, including prepping the filters. As long as you follow the instructions, you should have no problems. My husband put it all together within minutes one afternoon (the design is really pretty simple), and we were drinking from it the next morning. It's difficult to know how much water has been filtered without the glass water level attachment, but it's not difficult to keep track of it in your head (at least for our family). When the flow slows down, your water is running low. When the flow is fast, you've got time before you need to fill it up more. It's bigger than I imagined (even though the specs are listed), so be prepared to set aside a chunk of counter space for it. We ordered the Berkey stand, since Aqua Rain doesn't have one, and it works perfectly. We purchased this type of system for two reasons. First, for emergency situations. Instead of storing gallons of water wherever we could fit them in our townhouse, we are able to filter water from pretty much anywhere should we have the need. (We do have some water storage, anyway, though.) Second, our tap water is more chlorinated than other places we've lived and we wanted something that would filter out as much of that as possible. Unfortunately it doesn't do a very good job of filtering out the chlorine. The water tastes fine except for that, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. The fact that this product is American made is also a huge plus in my book, and the cheaper price as compared to Berkey was what ultimately had us choose Aqua Rain.

The good: Easy to setup
The good : Easy to setup, simple to operate , cost effective to operate for the long run.The bad : Water taste no good . ( compared to my home water distilling machine ,and local water vending machine @ $0.30/Gal.)The ugly : My home distiller machine using the water from local water vending machine came out clean ( no residue) , but using the water filtered by Aqua Rain , it has a lot of residue , and stinks too. ( see picture)I know these residue = " minerals " , but if it is so much ,and is so stink ( taste bad) , I am not willing to drink it .Maybe some of you like these " mineral " for " health " reason , sorry, not me.

From Well to Well-done!
For nearly four years we've been trying to find a water filter that would turn country (well) water into drinking water in our new country home. We had been spoiled with crystal clear Rocky Mountain water in Colorado before we moved to a heavenly area in Iowa in May, 2012. Everything is wonderful here - except for the terrible water!Several filters - from $90 to $900 - failed to provide the clear, good tasting water we were looking for. Bottled water was costing our family of four close to $300 a year and that expense was magnified with a trip into town and the time spent filling our own jugs. Also, you can't go to the store "just" for water... The entire process had become a huge pain in many areas - especially our pocket book! When a new friend told me that he had been using the Aqua Rain filter for over ten years without replacing the filters (because they can be cleaned) it sounded too good to be true. I seriously doubted that anything would work for our nasty water and, to be honest, seriously doubted that his filtered water could be as good as he was telling me but thought it would be worth the effort to at least check it out. *He has a well, too, and didn't live too far from us so I figured the possibility existed that his water might be as bad as ours. The carbon filtering system really IS almost too good to be true... almost. From the very first gallon to the most current one today, our previously cloudy, smelly, undrinkable water is crystal clear and perfectly delicious! In the few short months that we've owned the Aqua Rain filter, it's probably already paid for itself!I would give this filter 10 stars if it was possible and would recommend it to anyone, anywhere. In the picture below, the filtered water is on the right. Hopefully, the discoloration can be seen. We certainly don't miss it!!!Cheers and Well-done Aqua Rain!Sincerely,The Spellman Family

This filter works great.
I love it and would buy it over and over if I could. I use it to filter everything from water for cooking to water for beer brewing and just plain old drinking water. The terracotta filters make the water taste great, and I've tested and compared the water from my tap to this water and it is far superior. I have 6 kids and its important for me to keep them healthy and well. I notice a difference in my overall health when I become lazy and drink unfiltered tap water. Do your family a favor and get one.
