VG1655 Portable Monitor

I use the monitor for when I am on the move and working out of different locations. It has a good clear screen that easily allows me to do my work

Simple to set up, works like a charm. Can’t recommend this product enough. Fits in my backpack for office trips and protective cover does it’s job.

Provides me with a 2 screen work station anywhere I go on holiday that has decent WiFi. Same size as my laptop; excellent USB connectivity. I can go "on holiday" and still be at work with my entire office in my briefcase. Massive workflow improvement! Thanks Ron

Makes my job easier when on a customer site doing “stare and compare “ for upgrades or trouble shooting

This is a great price and super easy to connect to any device. I have a fairly new PC but couldn't use a USC C muti-function connector for sharing my screen. This allows me to use an HDMI cable, much better. I use it occasionally when I need two screens, the rest of the time it packs away taking up hardly any space. I'm super pleased with this portable monitor 10/10

The monitor did not work with my Surface Pro with all the cables provided, and therefore I would question what quality assurance had been conducted prior to bringing it to market by Viewsonic. This same issue has been noted by another customers as well. I then tried this on another laptop and the same issue. It also felt as a refurb had been sent out to me knowing that these issues hadn't been catered for by Viewsonic. I swiftly sent mine back with it not being fit for purpose and bought a cheaper alternative that worked first time. My suggestion to Viewsonic would be to fix the driver and compatability issues first and foremost before looking at reducing the price as there are decent monitors out there which are cheaper.

Screen is fine and works easily, but the power brick only has a US-0style plug and no regional attachments, which is very unhelpful.

Initially I was very happy with this as a second monitor, however after three months the monitor just stopped working and would only show a 'No signal' message. I contacted customer service in the UK, Equinox, who collected the monitor the very next day for repair or replacement. I was then without a second monitor for six weeks while Equinox were waiting for a replacement part. Eventually, after a chain of emails back and forth, Equinox decided that the monitor would need to be replaced. I received the second monitor at the end of February, again it worked well until, at the end of March, the replacement monitor developed the same fault. This time I'm getting a refund as I can't wait another six weeks for Equinox to decide that I need a replacement monitor. It's a shame because, when it's working, it's a good second monitor but the recurring fault needs to be sorted out.

Connects very simply via USB-C direct to my laptop - this one connection provides power and the display signal. Very light and portable, great way to add a second screen while you are travelling or working remotely.

Working from home, and wanting to be able to work in more than one place at home, has caused me to contend with some unique challenges. It's hard to get a lot of what I need to do done with just one screen, but unless I'm at my desk it's a bit tricky to have multiple displays. So I finally decided it was time to get one of these displays and there were a few reasons I was drawn to the ViewSonic. One, I'm a fan of their products. ViewSonic has been around ages and I've used their monitors off and on throughout the years, so I expected something with fairly good build and image quality. On these points, the display did not disappoint. The kickstand is thoughtful, allowing the monitor to be used horizontally or vertically. The overall build of the monitor feels solid, and the slim bezels are nice. Fortunately, as is standard for these, the thicker bezel is at the bottom which puts the display at a similar height to my laptop's screen. Additionally, one of the things that I preferred about this about a number of competing products is the subdued brand labeling on the front. Bright, shiny, or chrome logos are just obnoxious in my opinion (coincidentally, the ViewSonic monitors I have at my WFH station have a dark matte gray logo on a black bezel *chefs kiss*). The controls are straightforward and the interface is not too dissimilar from my other ViewSonic displays. Along with the sturdy cover, this is easy to pack and protect. I wouldn't subject it to any abuse as it is still just a fairly exposed screen, even with the cover on it. The cover seems to have traded a softer or friendlier feel for being sturdier, however it does also serve nicely as a mat to place under the monitor when in use to keep it in place and prevent the housing from scuffing up whatever table you're using it on. The scuff or scratch risk is worth calling out here. The metal kickstand feels like it'd pretty easily gouge a table or other surface, so using the cover as a base is recommended if you want to ensure that doesn't happen. You are paying a premium for the ViewSonic brand, but you also get a 3 year warranty and hopefully the reliability I'd usually expect from ViewSonic. The display includes everything you need: a collection of USB cables, microfiber cloth, and a power adapter that conveniently allows it to provide up to 60W of power to whatever device you connect to it. Picture quality is perfectly fine for the application. It matches a decent IPS laptop screen but can't keep up with the best in terms of color and doesn't offer 4K (which I've grown to find unnecessary on displays this size anyway). I wouldn't have expected anything more from it given the price, so there's no disappointment there.
