Where is this made? Germany?

The chefs knife was made in Germany. In my opinion The Henckels made in Germany are the best choice, and the other ones, made in Spain are second. Ones made anywhere else and you might save your money and get Chicago Cutlery.

At the handle the blade is 1 and 13/16" high.

Is there a case available for the Henckel 8" chef's knife?

I am sorry but we do not provide a case for this knife. Any 8" sheath made for chef's knives will fit.

Does this knife arrive sharp, ready to use or must it be sharpened on stones before first use?

My knife arrived sharp and ready to use. However, I have ruined one in the past by sharpening it with a stone. I now use a sharpener that you draw the knife through and it works very well.
