My boy is feeling good!
I didnโt really expect this to work, my boy hates wet food and he is incredibly picky. I sprinkle the capsules into his water bowl, and not only is he getting the benefit of the supplement, itโs upping his water intake too. So a double win! I have seen noticeable improvements in how he is getting around. Heโs back to jumping on things like a pro, some of which I hadnโt thought about before until you walk into the kitchen and oh look, the cat can get up there again. Heโs also started grooming his back end again, which the lack of grooming is what led me to the vet, and the arthritis diagnosis. Iโm pleased with his improvement, and hope this keeps him comfortable for a long time.

Recommended for older cats with health issues and/or who may also suffer from osteoarthritis...
Good for older adult cats who tend to suffer from joint pains. Follow directions on bottle. Simply open a capsule and empty the finely powdered contents into their food, typically twice daily for the first 30 days. After that, once daily is sufficient. This is an 80 count bottle so it should last you about 6 to 7 weeks. No odor, and although I can't be sure how it tastes, my own cat didn't have any problems eating it when mixed with his own dietary food. This supplement contains Glucosamine, a natural amino sugar found in humans, dogs, and cats cartilage and fluid surrounding the joints, and is the same supplement given to humans to reduce symptoms of osteoarthritis. That said, I can highly recommend this product for your elderly cat as it was recommended by my own vet. Always check w/ your own veterinarian to be sure, but this product is specifically formulated for small felines, and is generally considered perfectly safe for all cats, w/ no adverse affects, even when used w/ prescription dietary foods. Highly recommended for older cats w/ health issues and/or who may be suffering from possible osteoarthritis due to old age.

Cosequin seems to be helping after 1wk. No side affects Ike prednisone.
I had my feline girl Jamie on prednisone for a couple of months due to arthritis ( in her back right leg area) which was causing her pain and was limiting her mobility. I know how prednisone can affect our body if taken for too long so decided to research so other OTC meds to switch Jamie to. Finally decided on Cosequin by Nutramax. I had heard about it from a friend who had a feline girl and had great success. Couple if reasons why I switched Jamie over. She weighs around 17lbs (big girl) but dosage is only 2x day for 4wks and then 1xday. It is tasteless ( Jamie is fussy) so capsule can be opened and powder mixed with wet food. Just finished week 1 and her coat looks better and softer. She's not lifting her arthritic leg up when sitting ( she was while on prednisone) . Cosequin doesn't cause additional hunger and weight gain. I'm very pleased with the results after only one week. I will continue to monitor the results in a weekly update review and hopefully Jamie will be doing much better.

noticed effects within a week
I have a 12-year old manx cat who has suffered from arthritis since an injury when he was young. He had trouble jumping up on the couch, etc and would cry in pain if you picked him up the wrong way. He also would pull out clumps of fur on his lower back, probably from arthritis pain in his back according to my reading. He had thin, patchy fur on his back because of this and would not allow anyone to pet the area. I started Albert on Cosequin and fish oil about a month ago, so I'm not sure how much of the improvement is just cosequin but they seem to work together really well. Within a week he seemed more limber and could comfortably jump higher, and at a month he has stopped pulling fur out of his back and his coat is finally growing back. He has stopped crying in pain when I pick him up and he allows me to pet his back as long as I am gentle. He still seems bothered if I am not particularly gentle when petting his back, and still avoids jumping as high as other cats do, but I have only been giving him one capsule instead of the two he should be getting because of his weight; I am increasing his dose to two capsules daily once my new cosequin order arrives and will try to update with any improvements then. When ordered from Amazon, cosequin is affordable and well worth the price. If your cat is under 12 lbs, you give one capsule daily, which is almost a three months' supply for $16! Cats above 12 lbs receive two capsules daily. I mix the capsules and the fish oil in with wet food and my cat loves it. It's easier to dose this way, especially since he gets half a capsule of fish oil daily (don't have to waste the other half!). I mix in four days' worth of cosequin and fish oil and my cat gets a big tablespoon (about 1/4 can) of the refrigerated food once a day. I'm very satisfied with this product, and I wish more pet owners were aware of this option for cats suffering with arthritis, especially since my vet atleast never offered any help for Albert's arthritis. 5 stars, try it out.

Easy Urinary Crystals Prevention
"Urinary crystals?" you ask? Glucosamine helps to replenish glycosaminoglycan, an element in the lining of the cat's stomach. This lining helps prevent urinary crystals, which can be fatal if untreated. One of my cats, 2 years old, twice had blockages from urinary crystals. At the second incident, the veterinarian prescribed 2 pills per day with a meal (the big boy cat is a 17 pounder - I believe under 10 pounds takes just 1 per day). I also feed him wet cat food intended for urinary tract health ( Pro Plan Canned Cat Food, Adult Extra Care Urinary Tract Chicken Entrรฉe In Gravy, 3-Ounce Cans (Pack of 24) ), and I add 1/8 cup of water to a 3oz cat of food with the meal that gets the 2 pills of medicine. I add the water to the food because he refuses to drink from a bowl or cat fountain. The 2 prior incidents occurred 3-4 months apart. Fortunately, since starting this new regimen of combined medicine with additional water and special cat food, it has been about 5 months with no scares. The medicine comes in powder form inside of a pill. I prepare and mix the water with the wet cat food, and then pull the plastic pill apart and spread the powdered medicine on top of the well-mixed food (not too wet or the cat doesn't like it). The medicine is flavored and sometimes the cat will eat only the powder as a treat and come back later for the food/water combo. Whether it's the cat food, the extra water, the pills, or a combination - my cat is healthier. This price on Amazon is stellar. I have purchased several bottles and the quality seems consistent from purchase to purchase. 5 stars, highly recommended. EDIT 12/8/13. It has now been over a year since I have been administering the Cosequin in conjunction with a pure wet food diet ph balanced for cats with crystals (aforementioned Purina Pro Plan, and Friskies special diet for urinary health). I also add quite a bit of water. The cat has been crystal-free. I did take him to the vet once for what I thought was a crystal scare, but it turned out to be stress induced inflammation and he was not blocked with crystals. I'm going to keep up with this great product. Give it a shot! EDIT 9/16/2020. I am still giving the cat 1 pill per day (down from 2 at onset). This cat has not had a crystal episode for 8 years! I donโt know if itโs the diet, the pill, or a combination, but Iโm not stopping! Very affordable way to help pet quality of life. I recommend this stuff wholeheartedly and stand by my 5 star rating! EDIT July 2024: This cat is still alive at 14 years old and still has not had another bladder incident. In fact, heโs now in better health than his brother from the same litter who we thought was the healthy one. Heโs still getting 1 pill per day, and the brother Iโm giving 2 every other day to help with his arthritis. The bladder cat is down to 13 pounds and is full of vitality and energy and no signs of arthritis. Maybe these pills have had a double-benefitting effect? I plan to continue giving these pills until they pass away. 5 stars, all the way. I still feed Purina Pro Plan Urinary (chicken) for 1 meal but the other meals are now Weruva flavors that have pumpkin included. They both started having constipation in their old age and the pumpkin seems to assist. Totally unrelated to the pills, but just anecdotal data. He also still refuses to drink water so we continue with mixing in with the urinary food, and putting the pill on top of that meal. They gobble it up.

Break the capsule open and sprinkle half into his wet food twice a day.....
My 14 year old cat Ritzi gets it mixed into his liquid food. I brake the capsule open and give him half in the morning and the rest later either lunch or evening meal...and I see the difference. He doesn't walk so stiffly> Happy it works!

Immediate support for arthritic cat.
Cons - Not a cure, such is life*. Pros - 1) Works immediate and better than just glucosamine alone. Used in conjunction with monthly jabs and cat's claw supplement. 2) Affordable. 3) Readily available online. 4) Easy to mix into food and accepted without fuss. Cat can now enjoy her grooming and full body stretches again. *Above con is in jest, Cosequin is a godsend!

Seems to do the trick
My boy is already on Solensia injections once a month, but he seemed a bit uncertain and cautious, occasionally still pulling fur out where he felt some pain. I've added 1 capsule of Cosequin to his diet daily, and he's definitely improved. He's not pulling fur out anymore, he's moving around more and overall appears to be more comfortable.

I am ordering this for the second time for my Aging Cats (18+ years old)
I've been using this product for more than 6 months. I bought this product twice. I open the capsule and dissolve the content in water and then use a syringe to give it to my cats very quickly. It seems to help my senior cats relax and sleep in the morning. Also, I think its helping with mobility and joints as they still can climb stairs. I pair this product with Aktivait from VetPlus and it help my cats cope with againg with less pain and stress. I hope the price doesnt change as it keeps going up. Update after 7 months of use: I am writing an update to help others with aging cats, hopefully someone read this review and find it helpful. This supplement seems to work for my senior cats (18+). I've been using it for more than 6 months now and will order my 3rd bottle. I use it in combination with other medication to help with dementia (Aktivait from VetPlus + Aprylic from VetPlus + Calmex). Both of my senior cats mobility improved from week 1 and they started climbing stairs/ jumping again and sometimes running. Also, it improved their sleeping pattern (even when they skip their Alzaheimer medication). However, it is frustrating that the price on Amazon keeps increasing. I will start looking for alternatives if the price on Amazon keeps going up. Please consider revising your prices.
