I finally have found my new ultramarathon sports drink.
I purchased this product after a friend of mine kept going on and on about how much he liked it. I was skeptical, but really held out hope that the promises it made could be delivered. I do a lot of ultramarathons and almost always deal with some sort of GI issue during and after the race. In the latter miles (60 and beyond, usually) food doesn't have any appeal and my digestive tract seems to be totally shut down. Sweet/sugary drinks like Gatorade are hard to stomach so I am typically running on fumes. Following the recommended serving size, my 17 oz soft flask bottles hold about 150 calories worth of Tailwind, so maybe 30-50 more than a gel. It's not overly sweet, but does have a taste (I purchased the Berry flavor.) I bought this product to use at the 2017 Bryce Canyon 100 Miler before finding out that's what they would be serving during the race. At each aid station, I would fill one bottle up with their Tailwind and one with straight water. I will assume their mixing ratio was roughly the same as what I would do at home. At the start of the race, I was roughly 145 lbs (to give you a perspective) and I consumed I believe twelve 17 oz bottles of Tailwind, skipping refill at the last aid station. Besides that, I had two gels and two basic granola bars and a half a banana, and that was it for the entire, nearly 28-hour, race. I did not bonk, though I admittedly had a brief period of fatigue--there is a difference--in the middle of the night, and I had zero GI issues, despite temperatures reaching the mid-80s in the shade--what little shade there was. The most shocking result of the Tailwind was that I actually did feel hungry at times later in the race. This NEVER happens to me as usually my system is so messed up I can't even think about food. I'll note that while I didn't eat a lot of solid food, I actually could have had I tried. I just seldom felt the need for it. This was my first time using the Tailwind so I was a little cautious. I guess I possibly could have used more Tailwind and less water, but not knowing how my system would handle it, I didn't want to go "all-in" on the product. My friends who were with me during and after the race said I looked surprisingly good afterwards considering what I had been through. I mention this because one of the friends had seen me after a 100 miler the previous October that took about the same time and he said I looked like...well, bad. I did not have Tailwind at that event but wish I had and know that I'll be carrying it in every distance race going forward. The packaging says Tailwind is the only nutrition you need, but I think my metabolism is a little too high to not have some solid food along with it and that's fine as long as my body doesn't reject it. There's no way I could eat enough during a long ultra to keep from losing weight during the race, but it's good to have finally found a product that will keep me going and not sideline me with GI issues.

Game Changer for Endurance Athletes. No More Cramps, Even in Southern Heat!
I've been an endurance cyclist for over 30 years, and Tailwind Nutrition Endurance Fuel has become an essential part of my training and long-distance rides. Especially during the intense heat of Southern summers, it delivers exactly what I need... hydration, calories, and electrolytes... without upsetting my stomach or leaving me feeling depleted. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found it increasingly difficult to prevent muscle cramps with traditional sports drinks. Since switching to Tailwind, that’s no longer an issue. The cramping has completely stopped, and my performance and recovery have noticeably improved. This product truly lives up to its promise. Highly recommended for endurance athletes who need reliable, well-balanced fuel.

The perfect fuel
I am a long distance runner, and I have used several different types of gels and electrolytes, but none of them compares to Tailwind. In the past, I've had issues with my blood sugar dropping after 6-8 miles of running, and it can be hard to catch back up while I'm in the middle of a long run. Tailwind solves this problem. It is colorless, so I can put it in my hydration vest and have continuous fuel and hydration without the need for extra gel or electrolytes. My blood sugar never drops and I feel better during my runs. I have used Tailwind for many long training runs and several half marathons. One of the best things about this product is that you can mix it as strong or weak as you like, so the flavor can be customized to your taste.

Works very well for endurance energy and tastes like a dryer sheet
I purchased the berry flavor - and this stuff works! When I use this on multi-hour runs I feel satisfied and have good energy. And it unfortunately it tastes like an extra-sweet dryer sheet (e.g. not great)! I prefer to bring it in a concentrated mix in a 250 ml bottle, and then rinse / wash it down with plain water from the bladder after. It mixes easily, doesn't stain bottles, etc. It just tastes, well, not delicious. But it works! :-)

Best Hydrating Fuel
I have been using Tailwind hydration for several years. When I first learned of Tailwind, i was running Ultramarathons and I wasn’t sure how it would work for me. I found that your product was top notch. It’s easy on the stomach, easy to mix and doesn’t have an overpowering taste. I practically drink it daily to make sure I get the electrolytes I need. It not only provides me with the nutrients but it has 💯 calories per serving. The flavors are really tasty but I really enjoy the Cola flavor. I recommend it to anyone who is needing to replace electrolytes and have even given them some of mine to try. No matter if you are an athlete or stay at home mom, it’s the best product I have been introduced to and always my go to for hydration. Thank you for making an amazing product.

The Holy Grail of Endurance Energy Drinks
I started using tailwind nutrition last year in training for endurance cycling races - The Leadville Race Series events. I've used the Berry, Raspberry Buzz (caffeine), Lemon, and Mandarin Orange flavors. They are all very subtle in flavor which is an advantage since stronger flavors over longer events tend to be hard to ingest. Each scoop is exactly 100 calories so it makes it easy to calculate your target calories per bottle. Just to give you an idea, I'm 5'10 and weigh 155 lbs. I use 2.25 scoop (225 calories) in a 22-24 oz bottle. During several 100+ mile races, I consumed 1 bottle per hour. One race took me 9 1/2 hours (9+ bottles) and the other 6 1/2 hours (6+ bottles). I had no issues consuming the energy drink which has been an issue with other products. In a 50 mile race, I had 225 calories again in each bottle and I consumed 5 1/2 bottles in a 5 1/2 hour race. I had NO solid foods or gels - just Tailwind Nutrition. I had personal best times in all races. I did not have to stop and go to the bathroom at all. I finished each race surprisingly very strong and fresh. So I have my formula worked out. I would start with at least 2 scoop and work your way up until you hit the right amount for you. There is nothing else I will use in training or racing now.

Risk of it arriving as a solid block
Tastes great and helps my body recover. Bought several times. This last time though the powder arrived in a solid block and is unusable, so buyer beware, you can't return even if defective.

Great fueling source
I ride XC and gravel bikes 3-4 times per week. Rides typically ranging 2-3 hours in duration. Adding 2 to 3 scoops per bottle gives me the energy/carbs I need to complete my workouts without any gut distress. I have really been enjoying using this product as it mixes up well and has a very light taste. I highly recommend giving this product to try, you won’t be disappointed.

Good for long training runs. Maybe not the sole fuel for race day.
Good for trainings but during race I need to rely on gels as well. But maybe that’s me.
