Can they be peeled off? To be honest the name is just a bit much, kind of gross.** A: They are not peel off. They are raised letters and must be screwed on from the other side or something. I don't think you would be successful trying to take them off. I got the chrome toaster so they don't stand out so bad but they are still noticeable. I think the problem too is that the SMEG brand is not readily recognized by lots of folks so people wouldn't know what that meant. However, the toaster is such a dream! It is solid, toasts evenly and we just love it!! **Q: It looks like there are two plastic ring pieces on the inside of the toaster, are those supposed to be there?** A: I don’t believe there are plastic rings.
