I also wish I knew about this style for my cartilage piercing which currently has an 18g "horseshoe" style with balls that screw onto the ends. I had always wanted something that gave the illusion of the hoop going all the way through, without having to snap the ball on the hoop (I'm not sure I'm explaining that correctly). I tried 5mm, 6mm, 7mm and all were too tight for me. Beware any reviews telling you that something will work for you... We all have different sized earlobes and what works for others might not work for you. Trial and error is your best bet. FYI-The higher number gauge you go the thinner the wire/post. The 20 gauge is the part that actually goes through your piercing and it’s very thin which is great for me since I have sensitive ears and would rather not shove a larger thickness post/hoop into my piercings. I tried and found the thicker/lower gauge I went the more irritated my sensitive ears became. The gold color is slightly darker than shiny real gold but honestly you can’t tell unless you stare hard. I have a severe nickel allergy and these didn’t give me a reaction at all. I am able to keep them in even while sleeping which was the main goal for me. The hoop swings open and has a little click sound when you close them. Very easy to get on and off. Excellent for the price and quality.
