Do you know what the hardest thing for a Turkish learner is? Finding PROPER reading material that they can handle…which is precisely the reason we’ve written this book! Teachers love giving out tough, expert-level literature to their students, books that present many new problems to the reader and force them to search for words in a dictionary every five minutes — it’s not entertaining, useful or motivating for the student at all, and many soon give up on learning at all! In this book we have compiled 20 easy-to-read, compelling and fun stories that will allow you to expand your vocabulary and give you the tools to improve your grasp of the wonderful Turkish tongue. How Turkish Short Stories for Beginners works: Each story is interesting and entertaining with realistic dialogues and day-to-day situations. The summaries follow a synopsis in Turkish and in English of what you just read, both to review the lesson and for you to see if you understood what the tale was about. At the end of those summaries, you’ll be provided with a list of the most relevant vocabulary involved in the lesson, as well as slang and sayings that you may not have understood at first glance! Finally, you’ll be provided with a set of tricky questions in Turkish, providing you with the chance to prove that you learned something in the story. Don’t worry if you don’t know the answer to any — we will provide them immediately after, but no cheating! We want you to feel comfortable while learning the tongue; after all, no language should be a barrier for you to travel around the world and expand your social circles! So look no further! Pick up your copy of Turkish Short Stories for Beginners and level up your Turkish right now ! Review: Great book for A1/A2 comprehension - Great book to practice reading comprehension. Stories are 2-3 pages with summaries and comprehension questions at the end. Vocabulary list is very comprehensive. Review: ‘Jack is toplantisi icin Istanbul’a gelmiistir’ – Jack comes to Istanbul for a business meeting - Once again Lingo Mastery has come to the rescue, allowing us to make Turkish more accessible to a wider population. In the Introductory Note the goal is stated well: ‘Whether you’re learning Turkish for work, studies or fun, the knowledge of the language will broaden your mind, let you meet new people, and will become a new page in the thrilling book of your life…Our goal with this book will be to supply you with useful, entertaining, helpful and challenging material that will not only allow you to learn the language but also pass the time and make the experience lass formal and more fun…We will not bore you with grammatical notes, spelling or structure...we’ll teach you writing and reading Turkish with stories.’ After their success teaching Spanish, French, Italian, German, Dutch, Russian, Chinese, Korean and Japanese, now they turn to teaching Turkish! And it works. To make the Turkish alphabet accessible, transcriptions are provided in the form of transliteration and conventional signs used for transcription. In addition to the English translation below each story, the summaries follow a synopsis in Turkish and in English, along with questions (and answers) about the text, ably assisting knowledge of what was just read. Taking it slowly, step by step with practice, Turkish words and the accompanying excellent short stories become accessible! The technique is solid and the lessons well taught. This is a very fine introduction to Turkish vocabulary that may arise when you visit Turkey or simply conversing and understand the Turkish population here at home. This book is appropriate for all age levels, and a book much needed at this time in our national status! Grady Harp, August 20

I really love these stories! I am a beginner in learning Turkish and these stories are great in learning the language!

Good Stories, Not for Complete Beginners
For extensive reading with 90-95% comprehension you will need to know Turkish grammar at a late A2, early B1 level, have a vocabulary of around 4000 words, and have spent some time previously reading at an A1/A2 level. That should be enough to read with ease while also picking up 5-10 new words with each story. If you’re earlier on in your language learning journey, the book will still be useful but it will require a lot more word lookups and your progress through each story will likely be slower.

Good for beginner-novice readers
The sentence structure is good for beginners and novice readers. The mini quiz and the minis dictionary behind each story is very handy during studying. My only issue is some of the stories are sad and can be a bit depressing. A teaching material should be uplifting and encouraging not a tear jerker in my opinion.

Great Book for Beginner/Intermediate Level Student.
It’s been very hard to find any reasonable reading material for learning Turkish. This book is my best find so far! I’ve been learning Turkish for about 3-4 hours per week (plus homework) for the past 6 months and this book is perfect for my level as it’s both reasonably challenging and yet not overwhelmingly difficult. I hope to be able to find more materials like that once I’m through with this book.

Graded Turkish short story book
The presentation of the material: story first, followed by vocabulary next and then comprehension questions.

Excellent resource and fun to read!
The book is fun and motivating to read. The stories are short enough to be motivated to read one more whenever you have some free time, the summary and vocabulary parts really support learning something new with every story and the quiz in the end of each is fun and reassuring. If another edition with more stories will be published I'll buy it!

Good book for beginners in Turkish
This isa great book for those who are getting started in the study of the Turkish language. The stories are written in a simple way and are easy to understand, and after each one there is a vocab list and asome comprehension questions. Please bear in mind you should complement it with some textbook, as there are no grammar explanations included.
