What is the difference between this an the jock itch variant other then the price?

The active ingredient is different: In the Jock Itch AF (antifungal) variety of Lotrimin, the active ingredient is clotrimazole 1%; in the Lotrimin Ultra formula, the active ingredient is Butenafine hydrochloride 1%. In a research study published in the Journal Dermatologic Treatment (in 2005) titled "Comparative efficacy of topical 1% butenafine and 1% clotrimazole in tinea cruris and tinea corporis: a randomized, double-blind trial", the therapeutic efficacy of these two agents was compared for treatment of ringworm (tinea corporis) and "jock itch" (tinea cruris). Butenafine recipients exhibited higher clinical cure as compared with clotrimazole recipients (61.7% vs 17.6%).

Jock itch tube is way smaller than the athletes foot cream tube. Other than that there is no difference.

After applying, I can't go barefoot. How long should I wait to put socks on?

this stuff dont air dry after some hours like others, its also not as greasy, more creamy, less stainy, still there if you dont shower like many hours later just thinner coat. best just get them socks on, better yet wear sandals outside and get the sun to help kill the fungus
