Comfortable, Versatile, and Very Warm
This is a different style of heating pad than we’ve ever used. It’s pretty convenient. The fabric is soft and plush, thin and floppy, and it’s a pretty color. The edges are filled with some sort of weighted beans, so that’s kind of different. It’s not bothersome, but it does make it feel a tad weighty while wearing it in its regular configuration. Laying it out to lie on it feels a bit lumpy until it’s adjusted just-so. The magnets are a nice touch to hold it closed. The one thing that bugs us in the design is the cord attachment. It’s such a bulky thing sticking off the side in a precarious spot that it always seems to be in the way.In use on the shoulders as designed, the heating pad is pretty comfy and very warm. Because it covers a lot of your core, we’re always hot wearing it and we’ve never gotten it above Low. It’s nice that it’s wired up for heat on the back, shoulders, neck, and front flaps. It feels good, but we still feel like we’re baking under it. That’s just us. We’ve tried lying on it flat, and it seems to provide a more even warmth on the back. We’ve tried laying it over us like a small blanket, and it does okay, but we don’t feel all the warm spots. So we’d say its effectiveness is really in the configuration that you’re using it.No matter how you use it, the auto-off is a great feature. We all know that we shouldn’t use heating pads too long, no matter how good it feels, so it’s nice that the heating pad protects us from ourselves. That’s why we have a love-hate relationship with heating pads. The warm therapy feels good on what aches. We just get so darn hot using it. But that’s not the heating pad’s fault. Overall, we’ll rate this heating pad high because it does have a lot of fine points, it seems like a quality product from a trusted name like Sunbeam, and it’s a fair value to similar products if it’s on sale (regular price over a Grant is too steep for a heating pad).

Great product
Love the product. Heats up quickly. Can get hotter than expected but has been very reliable and easy to use.

Best Heating Pad
I love this heating pad. It is great for sore necks and backs. It is big and has various heat settings. It is blue, big, & soft. However, the last few I have bought did not last very long and they are not cheap and it is super frustrating. They used to work pretty good but some of them I bought at other stores & Amazon quit working for no apparent reason within 6 months to a year. Therefore, I think it is a brand problem not just an Amazon problem. But it is still my number one favorite brand of neck/back heating pad.

Well made, but performance lacks.
UPDATED 03/10/2017:My initial review, below, might have been a bit hasty. Somehow, it seems, this unit needed "breaking in" After a few uses, the temperatures seem to be warmer, provide a broader range, and are more constant than initial impressions. Still seems well made, and I give it a solid 4+ and recommend purchase.Original Review:While the Sunbeam XL Renue Heat Therapy Wrap seems well made, I experienced many of the same issues reported by other reviewers. The unit, on full power, does not get very warm. I think it heats up to what most might consider "medium". Once it gets there, it only stays so hot for about 15 minutes before getting quite a bit cooler - then it stays heating at the lower temperature, perhaps what one would expect to be "low". The size is reasonably good for a 5'11", 180ish male like me. I selected this product because I wanted it to treat lower on my back than other shoulder style units do. I am very sensitive to chemical odors and only experienced this upon initially opening the package - the smell dissipated immediately. This unit is very soft and flexible, unlike most "heating pads". I am not as happy with this purchase as I had hoped to be. If it performed better, the $50.00 tag would be reasonable, but considering the limitations, it's maybe worth $25-$30.

Really love this ❤️
Not only does this warm me up it relaxes my neck muscles and my shoulder muscles and my back all the way up into my head. It does exactly what it says it does. There's a magnet in the front to snap it together. I would suggest you buy one especially if you have a lot of tension in your neck shoulders and back. Strain muscles pulled muscles it works. A great value for the money also has auto shut off so you don't have to worry about going to sleep and it's staying on. The size fits perfectly around my shoulders and it's very easy to use.

A thorough review... hands down best heating pad for back and spine issues
This heating pad has been my life saver, i would not be able to function in life without this heating pad. I use it for hours Every. Single. Day. I suffered a neck and spine injury a couple years ago. The injury has left me with nerve damage and chronic spasms in my neck, traps, mid back, and shoulder blade region. My spasms are very easily triggered, I usually wake up with a tightness that turns into a spasm in my back. If I get stressed out, my neck will get tight thereby triggering a spam. Lift something with my left arm, here comes another spam. My life is a constant struggle of trying to not bring on back and neck spasms. That being said this heating pad has helped me tremendously.I use it first thing when I wake up to release any tightness I might have gotten in my neck and back from sleeping. And it works. The heat penetrates deep into the muscles relaxing them. If I feel tightness coming on later in the day I use my heating pad for about 20 minutes and it helps release those muscles. I use it at night before bed to calm my muscles down and the heat soothes and makes me sleepy. It's great, I literally use it all day long, all year round. It has saved me from so much pain, helped me from having to take round the clock medications and muscle relaxers and has allowed me to function so much better in daily life. What makes this heating pad so great and different is a few really important things:The Shape. It goes not just on your back but over your shoulders on your traps (which are a muscle of constant tightness for all people) It extend up the back of your neck (another tight area on most people) AND THERE'S ACTUALLY HEATING COILS IN THE NECK PART!!!! The cheaper brands show the neck part but there are no heating elements in them! Trust me I've tried them. That's the biggest difference and why you should buy this Sunbeam over any no name brands that might be cheaper. You're paying for quality. The heating pad can go from slight soothing heat to really hot. It has a controller that goes from warm, low, medium and high. I never use this on bare skin because high can get very hot and actually give you some burns, especially if you lean back against it on a couch or chair (they caution you on the box to never lay or lean on it, but I do all the time, you just have to watch how hot it's getting)It heats up very quickly, in seconds you'll feel the heat which is great. The material of this heating pad vs other sunbeam heating pads is much softer. It has a very silky soft minky cover which is nice. The only thing I will caution on, is do not twist the shoulder straps. I got into the habit of wrapping them up in the front around my neck like a turtleneck because the front of my neck gets tight. But after a few months of pulling them in a way they weren't supposed to go, I damaged the heating wires in the neck part. As a result it would get super super hot and burn me in that spot. So I learned my lesson and it's not the fault of Sunbeam, I really was bending and damaging the wires inside it. So I ordered a new one and this one I am careful not to bend it that way. So use caution, it's not good to fold the pad in half or sit on it etc, there are little wire coils inside that can be damaged that way.I've owned and tried many heating pads since my spine injury and this Sunbeam heating pad is the best to hit all of the areas I need. It has been a lifesaver for me. If you need lower back heat, this will only reach to the bottom of your rib cage depending on how tall you are. I am 5'5" and that's where it stops on me. But If your looking for heat on your neck, shoulders, upper and mid back all at once...this is the heating pad for you.

Extra large and lays nice...so comfortable
This pad seems to be really well made. The fabric and weight are nice. This was ordered for a larger, older man, with broad shoulders. I was concerned about it being big enough and it is perfect.

Gives me a warm hug
Love this. It comes over my shoulders and gives me a warm hug. I wish it had a lower setting, as the lowest setting gets a little warm and I have to turn it off.

Sunbean heating pad
This is nice that it heats up fast the only downfall is that it’s too stiff and uncomfortable around the neck, the last beige and brown one I bought a few years was much better. And more comfortable, I really liked it better, needs improvement or go back too the beige and brown one from a few years ago. This is the only reason I gave it a 3 star other then that I do love my Sunbean.
