My measurement around my head came out to 57 mm / 22 1/4 inches. According to other reviews, I added a centimeter or so and ordered a size 60, and it fits PERFECTLY!!!!! The interior has the renown 'diamond pattern' stitching of a true Russian made hat, and the faux fur is thick, fluffy, soft, and warm. You can feel how thick the inner lining is. As I live where it snows, I was looking for what would be a truly warm hat, and this one proves to be it! I would recommend this hat to anyone who lives where the temperatures get low and the wind can be biting. The quality is so good that I wished they made them in children's designs as well!

I bought the large which fits snug. IIRC my hat size is 7 3/8 [?].The ties on the flaps fray easily and require a carefully tied double knot to be of any use. Otherwise it's fine and keeps one warm. I live in the People's Republic of Washington so no one has accosted me due to the hammer & sickle...yet.

I first purchased a medium sized hat (same size I wear here in the states) and it was extremely tight. It looked awesome and felt like very nice material so I was pretty bummed about it not fitting. Returned it the next day bought another one that showed up faster then the first and it fits perfectly.The pin is really cool too, the first one felt a bit heavier but I still really like what I ended up with.Yes the pin points are dull, but if that's the only thing stopping you from pinning it to the hat, you got other problems.

My son needed this for a school project and he loves it so much he uses it as a winter hat now, lol.

My Son and Grandson are of Russian ancestry and my Grandson was given one of these hats by his Dad. Unfortunately, I ruined it by putting it in the washer and dryer. So I was super excited to find this exact replica. It is super soft, and warm. Perfect for New England winters. The lining is a nice quilted cotton, and it can be worn multiple ways. Even the pin is just like the one he had. It fits him perfectly and he loves it.

I had a military size 58 ushanka. It fit on my head but a little tight for me to use the ear flaps. I got it for about $16 on Amazon. However, the size 60 from the same supplier was asking almost $60 - I guess a matter of supply and demand. This time I ordered a size 60 "Soviet Army Air Force Fur Military" from Russian Ornaments supplier. This was around $16 also, so I figured it would be a more useful winter hat, while the first one stays in parade trim, as a novelty/souvenir. When it arrived I was disappointed, as it looks to be a "tourist" ushanka and not a military issue as stated in the ad. However, it does fit me with the ear flaps down and is a good winter hat. I didn't pay $60. I paid half that and got two hats and have good use for both, so I am OK. However, I learned not to trust the product claims in the Amazon ads. Apparently Amazon does not vet them.
